Let's use Messi as an example, if Chelsea signed him, they would make so much from shirt sales around the world, a lot more sponsors would want to be associated, it would instantly turn us into a global brand all because of 1 signing. That has to be considered in a player's price.

For a team like Chelsea to buy Messi they'd have to save up for quite a long time. I'm actually being fair to other teams who wouldn't be able to sign that sort of calibre of player.

The only teams that can actually afford to spend 100mil every year are Bayern, Real Madrid, Barcelona and United.

We can afford him though , We made profit last season , We have literally every young player worth noting (Ok not quite , But look at the amount of talent we have) who we can offload whenever we want , Constantly getting into champs leauge + doing well , If messi came here we would sell atleast willian and andre (We would get the cash up front)

Messis transfer fee would be split beetween however long his contract is (EG 5 year contract 40M per year and not 200M straight away) , We could afford him if we wanted ,We would have to make some adjustments but its doable.
