I used to think the same, but schools can't just let students pick which subjects they want to learn about and which ones they don't as they're part of one main curriculum. Education is extremely important as it can also teach you life skills. I've gone through school, college and currently entering my final year at university and without education, I wouldn't be in university.

Most professors or teachers don't even enjoy what they do. So they just do what they have to do, they don't care if a student learns or not.

Some college professors enjoy watching students fail and they find some sick happiness to it. Of course, it falls on the student to actually learn the material and study it to pass the class but there's a few of those professors who make the class unbearable.

It sounds like a lot of you want your school to teach you what your parents should be teaching you.
Schools are there to give you a basic understanding of History, Maths, English, and Science.
The rest is up to you, that's how a meritocracy works.

And while most places aren't generally a meritocracy, no matter how much they try to be, it isn't the fault of the schooling system that it isn't. It's how jobs hire people, how social safety nets work, and generally how humans interact which makes a meritocracy fail.

Schools are living up to the principle, the people aren't because the people don't care if the principle works or not. People care about getting a job in any way they can, and if that means begging their uncle to talk to their boss and give them a low level position over someone who would be better at the job, that's what they'll do.

Let's say they started teaching kids how mortgages work. We'd start seeing topics saying, "Why are they teaching me how a mortgage works when i'm never going to want one?"
"Why are they teaching me how to job search when I'm just going to get a position at my dad's company? I should be learning something much more applicable to me."

I feel that if you are lucky enough to have a teacher that enjoys their profession then school Is a ton easier.

If I had better teachers in high school I wouldn't have dropped out.

some weird things they would let fly, I remember a kid shattered one of the office windows and they let it slide but Id be getting my bags and lockers searched and one day I had the dean of students trying to identify the smell of weed on my hands by smelling them. lmao
So awkward.

I'm basically so fed up with school I don't even want to go to college
