Rep certainly had a meaning a long time ago, now it's just broken lol, wouldn't hurt me if it was removed tbh. Rep fairy hitting me up with 200 points nearly everyday though lmaooo.

Rep system is decent but could use a rework.
Better to have a rep system that entitles credibility or something along those lines.

I assure you there are no free passes when it comes to rep boosting anywhere on the site, the Shoutbox included. Staff members can be nice and give other members a boost but that's the extent of it.

Two or more people repping each other back and forth for days or weeks on end however is rep boosting.

Okay but thats hardly an example because that doesnt apply to 90% of the people here especially considering most sb members dont actually do many public giveaways (I do see a couple though), atleast not from what I see, and there is still tons of members that will suddenly go from 100/150/200 rep to 500+ after being regulars in the sb for a couple months, if that. Most of it does not add up.

I know what you mean, i started going in the shoutbox every now and then and now I have 140+ Rep.

I rep boost with myself.

Here is the thing. We know the system is broken, just because 1 user get's rep'd by numerous members doesn't mean that they are boosting reputation. I have an 80 limit every 24 hours... sometimes i don't rep anyone for days on end. Then one day i feel like spreading something that users "look up to"... or even "value" so i do a reptrain. Not once have i hit the "(You can give reputation to 0 posters today)" I've been nowhere near that. Be lucky if i even get down to 50.

In the SB users get rep not only just for being in there but also helping users out with certain things. You at 1 point was a ShoutBox regular and you should know that by now. Doesn't even have to be TTG related. I rep certain people for being there for me in a very dark place and time a couple months back. So for me to show them some sort of appreciation i send them some rep points.

If you think the rep system is so broken then come up with an "Idea" thread on how to fix it?
imo i don't even think it's that broken anymore. Users only see it as broken because they don't receive the rep that the other users gain. I was hated for so long after gaining 1.8k rep within 2 years. And tbh i don't even care about that. I don't believe i deserve this amount just as much as some of those users think the same. Even with my stats etc, i never imagined being over 100 rep. Honestly i didn't. The only thing i wanted from it all was some sort of respect within this community and i got that from certain users.

I can seen where others come from and their opinions and Jay does have a good one tbh. I'd like to see it removed and reworked, rep doesn't hurt me but it is annoying to see how long it took to get to my first 100 then there's multiple users that get it like that.
