Okay, So I feel like causing a war over here on TTG. It can be done with a simple question, which is:

Do you believe video games cause people to be violent?

Here's what I think. Yes & No. Each person is different and is influenced easily than others. For example a news post from Today states "11-Year Old Engages in Police Pursuit After Playing Grand Theft Auto V". Children are much easier influenced than that of a fully grown adult, therefore they're behaviour can be affected by even the simplest of things. Now, I'm not blaming video games as I have been a gamer for as long as I can remember. However, In someways I do believe they can promote violence in some people, maybe that they are Mentally Disabled, Young, Easily Influenced or for many other contributing factors.

Overall, I believe no. Not single-handedly can they cause someone to act violently, but with the rite contributing factors yes. Let's hear what you think

When people's ignorant thoughts overtake the proven studies, you know the world is screwed.

Nah i mean if you let kids play games like GTA (like most do) its totally up to the parents i have played since i was like 6-7 and it has never once made me think i want to go out and actually do something you would do in game. If parents are going to let there kids do what they want watch what they want and play what they want then let them do it. Its totally down to them not bringing up there children right.

I don't think so. I mean if a kid is really gonna mimic everything they see on a screen then TV would also make kids do dumb shit.

It really depends.

As long as somebody is playing a video game and is still contained with phenomenal surroundings they should be good.

it's when people really get sucked into the virtual reality.

If you play Grand Theft Auto and then want to reenact the game by killing hoes or shooting crips and bloods then you shouldn't be playing video games and should be in a mental institution.

There are age limits on games for a reason but i believe after 14 or 15 it shouldn't be a problem. I played my first GTA when i was 15 and my parents told me as long i knew it wasn't reality that i can play it.

The problem is parents aren't parents anymore NOT video games..

Unless you have a weak mind set and a clear lack of infrastructure around you then possibly.

If you do have a solid family etc and you are there mentally, then not at all.

Depends on your mental age I'd say, if your a kid with a young mental age you will adapt yourself to thinking it's real, if it's got violent stuff and a kid plays it they will believe it's real and it will cause them to become violent in the way it is shown on the video game. However, if the kid has either a higher mental age or understands it's not real then they would believe it less if you understand me. I don't believe when adults play it they will adapt to becoming violent unless of cause they have a really young mental age and they don't understand reality.

Another way video games cause violence is how much you play it, I know some people with kids and they are only allowed to play it on weekends and they aren't violent whereas I know other people and their kids play the Xbox all the time and in school they are sometimes quite violent.

I personally don't think it does.
