Many reasons, the foremost of which is a new strain of pathogen resistant to our best available antibiotics. You see, our antibiotics break down the biotics of cells and disrupt the metabolism of them (hence antibiotics). But through natural selection and evolution they develop immunity to this. Once immunity is developed, it's very easily transmitted from one cell to another.

At any given time, we house more than 30 billion animals in our global meat monopoly.
Most of these disgusting corporations keep their livestock in unhygienic, cramped and inhumane spaces. This leads to countless diseases being spread, which then leads to antibiotics being pumped into said animals, then immunity, cycle repeats.

Around late 2015, a resistance to Colistin (a very strong nephrotoxic antibiotic) was discovered in China. This drug was one of our best defenses against even the strongest infection. Now it's spread to humans, and since we are so connected this could be very bad news.

I'm sure this is nothing more than synthetic nutrients being restructured and assembled in the molecular architecture of meat, but regardless of this shit, very real reasons persist to not eat meat.
