CallumGibson17 wrote A family member has approached me and told me a 17 year old boy has asked to kiss her and asked her to be his girlfriend he lied and said he was 15 but that is a lie ? is there any law against this, she has blocked him now but i don't want him doing it to another young girl as it has caused stress on her ?

Depends on what state you're in. I know there is a law in Pennsylvania that allows it "Romeo and Juliet" law. Honestly if the parents don't care or consent to it, then the law won't intervene.

Romeo and Juliet basically means that after you turn 18, you may date up to a 14 year old legally with intentions of sexual misconduct. I don't like it but that's the way it is. Also in some states it's legal for a 12 year old to marry a 65 year old, completely insane but hey, that's the law for you. Especially people getting locked up longer for drug possession charges rather than rapists.

As he is a minor, there is nothing that can legally be done, except a restraining order.

Once he turns eighteen, that's a different story. But, obviously if he tried to turn it into somekind of sexual relationship, most (if not all) states the legal age on concept is 16 and above. Here in Pennsylvania the age of consent is 14, if the other participant is within 4 years of the other.

This is a first for me lol..
He's 17 he should not be trying or even thinking about talking to a 12 year old in any type of sexual or relationship way.

Just tell her to be mindful of what all she shares on social media *her location* being the biggest just stay safe and be alert of surroundings and she will be okay if he tries anything he may not be charged for sexuak relations with a minor but could be trialed as an adult or just a sexuak assault or harassment charge. Again stay safe. Not just her but everyone
