Here is what I see. You are too shy to ask about fire arms therefore you are too shy to use one. When you pull a gun on ANYONE, you pull the trigger. It will put the other person in a fight or flight mode, and beings you can't outrun a bullet, they will fight. You will most likely die. I would suggest getting a big dog. I have multiple firearms in my house, but if there are any unwanted guests, one of my 3 dogs will scare them away. This one will tear you to pieces.

A gun isn't 100% necessary, but if the time every comes, it sure is. I'd recommend getting a license, and anyone else in the house getting a license for a gun as well.

Just because i am shy to ask a question has nothing to do with me shooting someone, trust me, if someone comes to my house and intends to steal something or harm me or my family, i will try my hardest to make their life hell. If someone is going to go around stealing people's stuff or killing someone then they don't need to be living.

That is what you are thinking without adrenaline running through your veins. When you have adrenaline you tend to freeze up or do stupid things. Just looking at your replies I see you pointing the gun at the person / people quivering and yelling "Stop". That's it.

When you have a sane mind you tend to think things through. Adrenaline screws all that up.

It's plain and simple in my mind. If you can't just be open and ask your dad about guns then you simply won't be able to correctly operate it in a tense moment. I would just get a big dog if I where you. If you insist on getting a gun, then I would recommend you go to some self defense training classes with firearms.

WTF would i say stop to someone in my house? I would just unload every last bullet i had into the intruder. And i don't know about you, but i when i get a adrenaline rush i don't freeze( For example when you go on a roller coaster( assuming that you are not afraid of roller coasters ) when you get done with the ride you want more) And my dad doesn't like animals. You are just being ignorant, but whatever floats your boat.

Let me run you through a scenario. Suppose you are home alone and have a gun. For some reason you just happen to have it in your hand, it is loaded cocked and ready to go. You notice a weird truck pull up with 1 person and he a mask on. They are now at the front door. Look at the following picture and tell me what you would do.
