I think our age is affecting what we think about games.

I know where you're coming from, back on the GameCube days, I could literally play those games over and over, no problem. Even though there were hardly any "rewards" for completing a game 100% on the GC (like on Xbox,PlayStation,PC with achievements) I still would try for a 100% complete game, and even then, I could still go back and play it. Super Smash Bros Melee, Paper Mario: TTYD, Sonic Adventure 2 Battle and the Metroid games, I would play those games so much on GameCube, probably have more hours logged on those games, than I ever would any other game, excluding Pokemon because, Pokemon is just one of those games that stick through the years as they make more, so I haven't had a problem with the newer ones as for replay value. Where as now, I'll beat a game, maybe go for a 100% on that game, then I'm done with it, I uninstall it from my PCs HDD and move on to the next game. I'm not saying gaming is bad now, just I feel back on the older consoles and games, they had a lot more replay value, without it turning into a mental grind like a lot of the newer games have.

I think you're just outgrowing the games, not that they're getting worse.
When you're younger, you're a lot easier to entertain.

Well since you posted when it was still 2014, best game of the last few years I've played is Skyrim. Released in November 2011 and I still play it daily, the graphics were beyond its time and the whole game itself...

soundtrack, voice actors, its own language, the detail, impeccable.

Best game I've played by hundreds of miles.

I myself 100% agree with you, I use to play CoD,Halo, and some Indie games from time to time and now it's like I get on CoD AW and I play it for 15min to an hour and I just get bored. The only game I enjoy playing now is Destiny or Modded minecraft on PC.

You were exactly like me, switching from halo 2 to cod 4 and
halo 3 to MW2. I mean I could play halo all day long if I wanted
to, I can barley play AW and these new games for more then an hour.
There all going downhill, and all the games now are a;; futuristic.
I understand people say it gives you more things in the game but It
doesnt have the same feel to older games.

I personally think Youtube is one of the main causes of the latest games not being as enjoyable.

Think of it this way, in the COD 4 era it was a about winning games and playing the objective, since mw2 it slowly got worse since the nuke, moab, K.E.M, DNA hype simply eliminated the objective factor of the game for many people. Average/Bellow average players would watch Youtubers get nukes/moabs/K.E.Ms etc.. And the only way they could get one would be sitting in a corner/head glitch trying not to die, not caring about the objective.

Personally I enjoyed every COD up until Ghosts, I cant stand Ghosts or AW really don't know which one is worse.

P.S I am talking about multiplayer only, the campaigns on COD have always been good. (imo)

Jone wrote Its probably just a mix of getting older and FPS games becoming ridiculously repetitive.

I second this comment. My age has changed the way I enjoy some games, but I still think that they make great games that are still a lot of fun to play, I just don't have fun with the games as long as I used to, because of me being older now.
