Just start downloading the games instead thats the best bet if I was in the same situation and don't want to waste money hope I helped

Most old motherboard's disk trays go for a crap.
I do not know the reason behind it, but it could
be just the laser eye is out of focus, or the laser is
burnt out completely. You can get a new disk tray for
about $20 on eBay. Will require a bit of experience to
replace yourself though. There's always YouTube to
help you out if you need it

This happend to my Xbox all I done was took it apart and there was loads of dust I cleaned that out then tried it out and it worked fine!

It sounds to me like your laser has gone, you will need to get it replaced which will cost you between 15-30 depending where you get it from.
