Basically my Xbox (Xbox 360 Elite) has suddenly stopped reading any disc, I've followed tutorials on youtube such as banging on the top of the xbox while it's reading, and blowing into the disc tray, yet they haven't worked

Any way to fix it? (as I don't really want to spend money to do it)

I had to take mine apart and do something with the laser or eye whatever its called, been a few years.

It will eventually tear up again, I suggest buying a whole new disc tray for around 25-30 bucks.

You'd have to flash the new drive for it to work on the console.

My XBOX is acting the same way, I just gave up trying and started buying online games off the marketplace.

I understand you don't want to spend money on fixing your Xbox but it's really the only way you will get it to work like new again.

You can just purchase a brand new laser off eBay that corresponds to your disc drive. The cost is only about $8-$10 and you can replace the laser yourself.

Although you will need a Torx 10 screw driver to open up your Xbox as well as a Philips Head screwdriver to open your disc drive. You will also probably need a soldering iron to get rid of the anti static point that comes attached to the brand new laser otherwise the new laser will not even attempt to read a disc.

In general it might sound like a lot of work but I can guarantee you that it's the CHEAPEST (about $25-$30 total) and most reliable way to fix your Xbox 360 for a long time.

If you need any help regarding how to do this you can give me a PM and I will be more than happy to guide you through the process.

Good luck.

Well, I have had this problem in the past it is a problem within the inside of the Console and banging on it will just damage it more. I myself contacted Xbox Support and I had to send it in for inspection and to get fixed. Your best bet man would be to call Microsoft. Also don't always trust Youtube a lot of people make you mess your stuff up. I learned from expericnce

Honestly I have had this problem before banging/blowing of any sort on the console just breaks it more what you have to do is take it apart and clean the laser off if it doesnt work then just buy a new laser for 8-11$ on Amazon.
