Its a completely different architecture though.

That is completely true, but again. Where the PC can do things, the xbox can't and vise versa. They all have their pro's and con's but I think the PC definitely outweighs the xbox one, due to the fact that they can do so much more.

Dont get me wrong, i love gaming on my PC.
And agreed there are Pro's and Cons.

But his argument he claims were fact, they are opinion.

He claimed the Console was a rip off scheme. Yet you even said yourself, PC can be upgraded to be able to play games 6 years later....at cost.
His argument is about money.
That is all I was getting at (not trying to start an argument )

I would still rather pay a mere $100-150 on a graphics card or something rather than $500-600 on a new xbox that does less.

Not necessarily only about money just the fact they call this the next generation of gaming is beyond me.

And it is definitely not "next gen" because it is basically a 360. They just wanted to release something because Sony was.

You're not getting my point.

The xbox 360 shipped 9 years ago
Which would be, for example, Call of Duty 2

8 Years later that same console played Call of Duty Ghosts

2005 PC would have needed
256mb RAM
Very basic Graphics card (64mb Hardware accelerator)

8 Years later that same PC would need
6GB RAM
Very least a 1GB GPU

This is all my point was

It is the next generation of consoles though, I think people are looking too much into that phrase to be fair. but I get what you mean

Do you realize that we're the only ones posting on this topic. Anyways, but yea. The PC may require so much more, but you would also be spending less money to upgrade those. Yes you will need a new computer every couple years, but you can also sell the computer you have for a chunk of cash if you know where to. As if you can sell your xbox to gamestop and get $30 for it. You could sell your gaming computer for about 9/10's the price towards your new one. Some people are just stupid and don't know what is good for a computer.

To be fair I think we are arguing their points for them so they dont need to post lol.

As mentioned I like my PC gaming, but I also like to use my Console aswell.
We have gamed on Consoles for longer than PC.
I think there is enough room and reason to have both going.

Consoles I would say are great for family and simply gaming (now turning into media stations)

PC's are for the specialist gamer, modding (not in the CoD sense) and all round user.

Leave all cost out of it as there are, again, arguments on both side

Glad we could have this discussion without getting heated and flamey

Asymmetrical wrote A PC Built for gaming will last much less and Your monitor...is just a monitor.
Where do you get that from? If you're talking about an old computer running new games. You can still do it, but just like consoles you have to run them in a lower resolution with lower settings and maybe sacrificing some FPS. If the computer had superior hardware compared to the console at the time, the computer would still be better, just outdated. And what's wrong with monitors? I guess better pixel density, a better panel, higher refresh rate and lower response time is a con now.

Ever heard of Mini-ITX form factor or HTPC's?
Asymmetrical wrote A PC built for gaming can last you just as long as a console.
So a PC I built in 2008 would run Battlefield 4 perfectly??
Yes. If the computer was better than a X360/PS3 at the time, then it should run Battlefield 4 with better settings. For example. The X360 runs BF4 at 1280x688/30FPS, the computer could run it at 720P/45FPS.
The COD Ghost analogy is out of the question, since is very biased. The game is a horrible port and even high end PC's struggle with it.

New games old PC argument -
The console still comes out on top and 8 year console will do better than the 8 year old PC. Im talking money for money and no upgrades.

Monitor Argument -
The monitor is still just a monitor, its not a TV like with consoles.
I also prefer monitors, I was simply pointing some things out.

Size -
Mini-ITX and HTPCs are great for what they do.
Have a look through our build section. Anyone building a gaming system is not recommended one.
Although I had forgotten about the HTPC's which are great these days and can hold some top gear, so yes I do concede to that one.

Age -
CoD was just an example and I know it was pure Shite.
My point is, a PC you bought 8 years ago for around twice the cost of an Xbox/PS3, both untouched, I would play it on the console.

Again, Im not trying to argue, its just the way I see it. And I spent more on my PC than I did my console.
I also have yet to purchase a "Next Gen" console. For the sole purpose of there is nothing there I want yet.
