I hate when people are stuck in the past.

Well.... Hurricane Katrina was a horrible event in its self. But, in a different context. Katrina was a natural disaster, also something people were alerted on. The 9/11 attacks were sudden, an apparent hatred for our country. It wasn't troops killed. These were regular people, at work. Almost 3,000 innocent, unexpected people, killed because a group of people hate our country. People trapped on top floor, jumping out of windows, waiting for help, all to eventually be smashed by the tons of building... Firemen, police officers, dead, giving their lives to try to save these innocent people. People forget that these were not just building falling. When you actually watch on the street films of the event you really get a sense of how shocking it was. Could you imagine seeing a plane hitting a building, people smacking the pavement because there is no other way out. Seeing a building collapse, with your love one's in it. Almost 3,000 people died in the twin towers alone. That;s almost 3,000 families affected. Seeing you loved ones leave for work in the morning, a regular day, and in a sense watching them die on live television. It is not something that should be forgotten. The past helps us prevent/prepare for things in the future.

Okay, if you're going to complain about your political views, and how YOU feel about USA, then make your own topic, you coming to this thread and hijacking the whole thread/point is total unnecessary and pointless.

What about the many who lost their lives at Pearl Harbor? What about the many American soldiers that were killed during "death marches" orchestrated by the Japanese? The Japanese were a dangerous enemy. Reluctant to quit, and even had soldiers that would give their own lives, kamikazee pilots.. The bombs were dropped in Hiroshima, an important army depot and port of embarkation in the middle of an urban industrial area. Nagasaki was a major shipbuilding city and a large military port. These targets we picked to officially end the war. It wasn't a ruthless attack on innocent people. It was an attack on some of the major military related sites in Japan.

What innocent people? We have been at war with middle Eastern countries on and off for roughly 25 years now. The people we kill are the soldiers that fight to keep a dictatorship alive, oppresing the many n their country. We go over there to help free these "rebels" who no longer want to be afraid to freely speak... Though Bush in a sense mostly wanted oil...

Aggie wrote I mean really come on this is the largest attack in US history and there is not a moment of Silence. that really pisses me off.

When I was in HS I do not even think we did a moment of silence.

To be honest, I don't think 9/11 was bigger than Pearl Harbor. Casualty wise, yes, but overall? No.

This is what we lost during Pearl Harbor:

4 battleships sunk
3 battleships damaged
1 battleship grounded
2 other ships sunk
3 cruisers damaged
3 destroyers damaged
3 other ships damaged
188 aircraft destroyed
159 aircraft damaged
2,402 killed
1,247 wounded

9/11 we lost like 3 buildings and 2,977 people.

There's also a difference in the emotional impact. Personally, I don't even think the should be compared, and doing so is a bit rude to those who lost their lives. One should not be held higher regardless. Lives were lost, simple as that.

I got very mad at my school. We didn't take a single second in the day and half of the school had no clue. I was very disappointed.
