I hate it when people use gay as an insult. You have no idea how stupid it makes people look. And how stupid they look when you call someone gay and they say, yeah, so? I am. Their faces light up like a Christmas Tree

Yeah, people are always thinking it is an insult, I have a gay person in my class, he always gets called gay, so what? He can love men or women, it doesn't matter.

I'll admit I use it as a casual insult, only amongst friends, it mean's nothing to us. I'd never use it against people I knew little about, or only just met. Keep in mind I have nothing against homosexuality, I have family that are gay and I'm friends with a lot of people who are. I'd never think to look down on them or treat them differently, it's something that just doesn't bother me, it's 2013 after all, not the 50's. No one's going to arrest you and chemically castrate you for finding the same gender attractive.

We live in a economy were kids are brought up in a world to believe that being "gay" is wrong, I find it ironic, I'll see a gay couple doing a better job at parenting then a normal husband and wife situation.

when people use 'Gay' as an insult they don't literally mean you like men, it's just a word, like "aw that's gay" is just the same as saying "aw that sucks". asking your friend to come out and hang about and he says no and you call him 'Gay' doesn't mean you ARE calling him gay. people that think it's always used to insult gay people are just stupid, the word literally means nothing.

Personally, I use gay as a jokey kind of insult, because it keeps the mood light among friends and trivializes the insulting way in which the word can be used.
It's a surprisingly good ice breaker in a gay bar to use it as a jokey insult.
I would never use it as a hateful insult though.

One of my good friends is gay and he is the funniest person I know.
So it really ticks me off when people use it as a insult.
One day someone will tell them straight.

I agree with you 100%. I myself am guilty of doing this and am making an honest effort to change the word I use. I don't even remember why I started using the word myself, I think probably after hearing so many people use it dating back to when I was in middle school I just unconsciously started doing that myself. I have nothing against gays either, I'd love to see everyone stop using it as an insult.
