It is a large requirement to actually use the console and so it needs to be on 24/7. If your not using your Xbox jury switch it off at the plug. Simple

Sorry but I very much doubt that a very well respected company such as Microsoft will care about spying on its Xbox members through the Kinect. What would they get out of it? It doesn't increase their profits, which is all they care about!
