AMD tend to offer performance for less than the Intel and NVIDIA counterparts.

In terms of CPUs for power you'd go Intel and for bang for the buck you'd probably still go Intel tbh with the Pentium G3258 or lower tier i3's still holding their own. Only reason to want an AMD CPU now is the overclock ability (if you're into 5GHz volcano's) or the cores; but Intel do a great job on the core game with their i5 and i7's, so even that can lean towards Intel. Only AMD CPU I'd recommend getting is an AMD APU if you need that kind of thing in a budget system. Any system with an external graphics processor you'd might as well go Intel because there is probs an Intel in your budget.

As far as GPUs go; there is a lot of variables here. Generally NVIDIA GPUs tend to be more 'efficient' so to speak. They run with less power and therefore less heat and get excellent performance. That being said they also tend to cost more than AMD GPU solutions. A lot of people speak highly of the R9 series of graphics cards AMD have came out with, the 290s and 290Xs especially. As far as which is better, it honestly is either personal preference or budget related a lot of the time. If you have a budget that can afford a high end NVIDIA; you're most likely going to want a high end NVIDIA. If you need a cheaper card with still good performance chances are, similar to the CPUs, AMD has got your back. Me personally I don't like the new AMD GPUs and that is 100% my personal opinion and shouldn't affect you at all. Me I like the old AMD solutions, the 7000 series of cards. Incredible performance even today for a fraction of the cost.

You mentioned 1500 budget for your computer and in that scenario you're going Intel/NVIDIA combo. You mention 'bang for your buck' but that budget is HIGH END system dolla. Bang for your buck is anything like 500-600 or less. In your case an i5/i7 and a GTX980ti is probably doable, I don't really know the prices of things anymore as I haven't been watching the computer market for a while.

Intel is the more expensive but generally better chip, you get about the same from 1 intel core for every 2 AMD core's.
However, AMD is better at some tasks.
The A10 AMD Chip's are better for encoding on twitch's current codec.
As for Nvidia vs AMD / SLI vs Crossfire, it again is dependent on budget.
If you're on a smaller budget <$500 i'd reccomend AMD. Over $500 then Intel.

So basically, with your line of logic, why learn anything new? What a stupid and pointless comment.

A lot of people seem to misunderstanding my post. I'm asking what company provides the better gaming product for the least amount of money. Simple as that. Not which company is overtly better because like many of you have said obviously one is not going to be better in the general sense. That's why I said gaming twice in the OP.

The problem is your trying to compare brands, you don't do that you compare individual parts and components, for example you wouldn't compare a 6300 to a 5820k they're worlds apart.

Get what is best for you at your budget and use case
