Not as much as being "tripped", But more like falling out of the sky. That's when i wake up and my body basically bounces off my bed. but i don't think much of it. I've read it's your body telling you to wake up.

Well then my other me dies all the time. Because in class I'll lay my head down and jump out of nowhere. It's quite embarrassing at times. But oh well.

I heard this may also be linked to a neurological process that your brain goes through whilst falling asleep, basically your brain shuts down you stop receiving sensory inputs and this is supposed to feel like falling or weightlessness, if this disconnection is interrupted and you suddenly come back to full consciousness, you interpret the sensation as a fall and stop.

You have a very interesting theory there though.

Happens to me all the time, I usually get the basketball to the face or the arrow in the chest, that's what usually jumps me up.
