I'm pretty sure if not mistaken a DDOS is basically like kicking someone offline except its a server instead of a person on Xbox live.

DDOS stands for distributed denial-of-service attack

Basically, they have flooded the IP to make the server go down.
It can be done on websites, people, loads of stuff.
