Budget: 200GBP at the most, but anything very good for less would be great too.

Music preferences: Electronic (DnB, Dubstep etc) and Hip-Hop.

Type/form-factor: Any (recommendations for all would be greatly appreciated).

Open or closed: Closed.

Listening from: iPhone/Apple products.

Details: Durability is a key factor want them to last as long as possible really, as well as having them stay in, often find buds fall out of my ears but not sure how easy that is to fix...

thanks, +rep when i get an reply.

The V-Moda LP2 is very bassy and it's built extremely well so that's my recommendation. It's good for portable use as well because it has a removable cable, case, and cable remote thingy. The Sennheiser HD 25-1 II is another option I'd consider. It's on-ear, nearly indestructible with easily replaceable parts, and good for the genres you listed. There's also the V-Moda M80, Aiaiai TMA-1, and Audio Technica Pro 700 Mk2 ( [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] that I would consider. If you want an IEM, I'd ask Ishcabible because I'm out of the loop for those at this point.

Music preferences: Rap, old school rock

Type/form-factor: either in ear or over ear

Open or closed: closed, don't want to bother other people

Listening from: Will be listening from my Iphone

Details: Anything that has great sound quality, but also are comfortable to wear as i can wear them for 5+ hours at a time. Also in the uk, so if possible please take that into consideration

Or something that sounds better but is less comfortable: [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Also @r00t, I now have two pairs of vTrues and both pairs sound slightly different in the mids. The old pair is a bit more distant, and it isn't expectation bias because switching them around I can tell the difference every time. Also, I'm trading my Fostex for a surprise headphone.

Are they different revisions or something? Also, is [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] the surprise headphone? I saw them mentioned and they look pretty novel.

Budget: 40 GBP

Music preferences: I will be using them for gaming mostly.

Type/form-factor: Over ear.

Open or closed: Closed.

Listening from: PC.

Details: I want the headphones for gaming and quality audio, and I do not want a microphone attached.
I would like the headphones to be relatively durable and last some time, thanks.

Nope. The first one developed a channel imbalance... And it is not actually. I happen to be trading my Fostex T50RP for this. You're going to love it.

I want to know what studio monitors would be better for the price:

Budget is $500 with soundcard or dac/amp. I can also go 5.1 or 2.1 but this is mainly for sound editing, music, and movie watching. The area is roughly 7'x11'and the room is 13'x11'

I personally like the Yamaha HS50M. There's also the KRK Rokits that some people seem to like.

Halp. I've killed them.

Got a [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] of Custom One Pros, just turned on the computer and stuck a song on through iTunes and a terrible sound came out of the left ear. It was just distorted bass. It sounded like this:

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

It was just a terrible mush of bass, well the wasn't really any. However, after fiddling around with the wire and hitting them they seem to be better, however there is still a rattle in the left ear; something I've had a while now when there's bass.

With every pair of headphones I've owned there has been a faint rattle in the left ear. Why is this? It's not my ears because when I flip the headphones round the other way I can hear it in the right ear.

Sounds like a cable problem. Isolate the problem first, does it happen on another device as well or just your computer? COPs do have a replaceable cable though IIRC. Also try not to turn things on or off with your headphones attached. Bad idea especially with the poor amps in most things.

The rattling occurs with every device I have used, however this is the first time I've had really bad distortion. I also always unplug my headphones after use from the computer and then plug them in when I want to use them because I have a pair of speakers I use during the day. Headphones are for computing at night.

You could try seeing if there's a hair on the driver. Remove the pads and foam in front of the driver.
