I don't have a problem with people praying in times like this, if it's comforting then who are we to decide they shouldn't pray?

What really bothers me is when people who survive go on the news a year or so later to talk about the event and they say something like "God saved me that day".
No, other people saved you that day.
The man who shoved his bare hand up your leg to pinch an artery closed so you didn't bleed to death, saved you that day.

[That happened by the way]

I just don't understand this.
If i'm not I don't believe in a god, what would I be praying to?

That doesn't seem like it would make me a cold hearted person.
I feel bad for these people and wish tragedy wouldn't have struck them, but I don't know what good it would do for me to pray for them.

If there was a God, why would he answer the prayers of a non-believer like me anyway?

I am not much of believer in god myself but what I do know according to my parents is that god loves everyone and it doesn't matter who you are or what you have done.

Its like Marylin Manson said "god band aid" people only turn to religion when it suits them. Slap the "god band aid" on it and anything can be excused

People can pray for their families by all means but it just annoys me when people use religion as a fail safe for a tragedy.

Have to agree as people do say all things such as God wont help but then when tragadys come they are all to do with god and how "he" will save them.

No I am not offended by people saying prayers. But people ONLY say it when there's a tragedy making it seem hypocritical!

Are you trying to imply that the only times that people pray are when tragedies occur? What about the millions of churches/synagogues/temples at which people pray? Did they just all suddenly disappear?

I think he is talking about social networking.
Twitter was flooded with exactly what he was talking about but on normal days people are talking about how turned up they're about to get and how many people they have sex with.

Don't take things so literal.
