They're too expensive for something you can make for far less.

It really all depends. Alienware allows you to customize your PC and the parts they put into it for you. But everything you can get with an alienware you can build on your own for a cheaper price. Plus you can add more to a built PC. The default stuff they give you in something like their x51 for $700 is not that good at all. It defiantly is not worth it.

They're ridiculously overpriced for what you get.

The above replies are correct. Alienware looks fancy, but the prince is absurd for what you're actually getting. When Dell bought them, it went downhill.

I have one the money on them are outrageous. The video card is pretty much the only thing you need to upgrade. Overall I love my computer.

I see people building desktops but is it hard to build a laptop because I like laptops more then desktops

Yes it is possible but I have NO experience in building a laptop. Desktops are better from a technical stand point because of the space, custom ability, and the parts you can put inside. But if you really NEED a laptop over a desktop I can only point you in the direction of pre-built laptops. There is not just Alienware(Dell) but others like Asus, Origen, Razer, MSI, and more.
