Ausboss wrote to let us bear arms to protect us from exactly what the government is doing. **** sick what power the government has over citizens.
the 2nd amendment was made so citizens could overthrow a tyrannical government. Also, the constitution was supposed to be rewritten every 19 years, which it isnt.

No American citizen can legally own a fully automatic rifle without countless permits and allowances from the Government which are impossible to get. And, the weapon would cost $40,000. And, to those of you who say "Criminals will just buy off the black market" Ok, so let's do some math. If buying an illegal variant AR-15 costs Five grand off the black market, how much will the price be after a full out assault weapons ban? Easily $45,000. So, that leaves the Cartel, and Mafia in larger cities, to who can supply people with Assault weapons. So less weapons would be in circulation, and people who refused to give up weapons would be charged with resisting arrest, or even worse, treason. It's how life goes.

Umm UNSC please do some research, we are talking about SEMI AUTOMATIC. Also let's use the Mexican cartel as an example. They have so much money and power they are able to take on the US national guard.
Once again take a look at brazil. Any gang or Cartel can make BILLIONS off of Drug Money alone.
An assault rifle is a selective fire (selective between fully automatic, semi-automatic, and burst fire) rifle that uses an intermediate cartridge and a detachable magazine. Tell me, do you own a Fully automatic rifle? Oh you do not? Then it cannot be classified as an Assault Rifle.

Being the owner of an AR-15 Semi-Automatic, it is an assault rifle. This is the type of weaponry we are talking
about. Also the Bushmaster Used in the Newtown shooting was semi automatic and classified as an Assault
Rifle.

My friend owns an AR-15 as well. It is legally not an assault rifle until it includes three or more of certain features (bayonet attachment, extended mag, etc.) I know my buddy has an iron sight and an extended mag. Anything more would make it an assault rifle.

PowerButton wrote Banning guns is not the solution to decrease gun violence in the US.

Banning guns of any type, will only create more of them. Cartels and Gangs will simply smuggle these in and make more money than they ever have before. Not only will the guns be un-traceable, but now Gangs and Cartels are more powerful and the US will be spending more money on the "Drug War". Let's use Brazil as an example, Brazil has fully banned guns and they now have the most gun related deaths in the entire world. Thanks to all the criminals bringing in these guns, brazil is the murder capitol. Switzerland on the other hand requires it's citizens to have guns, they have the lowest crime rate in the world.

That's my opinion.

What's yours?

Never really thought about it that way but its true haha

agreed its stupid to ban weapons if people want them they can still get them and for all the good people we will not have nothing to protect ourselves with making it easier for criminals to rob us and do whatever else they like

Let me get this clear.

Obama is not banning guns, he is banning fully automatic assault rifles and large magazines.
Here's the list:
M1 Carbine,
Sturm Ruger Mini-14,
AR-15,
Bushmaster XM15,
Armalite M15,
AR-10,
Thompson 1927,
Thompson M1;
AK,
AKM,
AKS,
AK-47,
AK-74,
ARM,
MAK90,
NHM 90,
NHM 91,
SA 85,
SA 93,
VEPR;
Olympic Arms PCR;
AR70,
Calico Liberty ,
Dragunov SVD Sniper Rifle or Dragunov SVU,
Fabrique National FN/FAL,
FN/LAR, or FNC,
Hi-Point20Carbine,
HK-91,
HK-93,
HK-94,
HK-PSG-1,
Thompson 1927 Commando,
Kel-Tec Sub Rifle;
Saiga,
SAR-8,
SAR-4800,
SKS with detachable magazine,
SLG 95,
SLR 95 or 96,
Steyr AU,
Tavor,
Uzi,
Galil and Uzi Sporter,
Galil Sporter, or Galil Sniper Rifle ( Galatz ).
Pistols (or copies or duplicates):
Calico M-110,
MAC-10,
MAC-11, or MPA3,
Olympic Arms OA,
TEC-9,
TEC-DC9,
TEC-22 Scorpion, or AB-10,
Uzi.
Shotguns (or copies or duplicates):
Armscor 30 BG,
SPAS 12 or LAW 12,
Striker 12,
Streetsweeper. Catch-all category (for anything missed or new designs):
A semiautomatic rifle that accepts a detachable magazine and has:
(i) a folding or telescoping stock,
(ii) a threaded barrel,
(iii) a pistol grip (which includes ANYTHING that can serve as a grip, see
below),
(iv) a forward grip; or a barrel shroud.
Any semiautomatic rifle with a fixed magazine that can accept more than
10 rounds (except tubular magazine .22 rim fire rifles).
A semiautomatic pistol that has the ability to accept a
detachable magazine, and has:
(i) a second pistol grip,
(ii) a threaded barrel,
(iii) a barrel shroud or
(iv) can accept a detachable magazine outside of the pistol grip, and
(v) a semiautomatic pistol with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10
rounds.
A semiautomatic shotgun with:
(i) a folding or telescoping stock,
(ii) a pistol grip (see definition below),
(iii) the ability to accept a detachable magazine or a fixed magazine capacity
of more than 5 rounds, and
(iv) a shotgun with a revolving cylinder.

And on my opinion of banning them, is the fact if retailers can't sell them, then criminals can't steal them.
Criminals don't MAKE the guns, they either steal them from suppliers, or steal them from buyers, or just buy them illegally internationally, which we can't do anything about.

So restricting the sale of these automatic weapons will decrease the amount in circulation, thus reducing the amount in criminals hands.

We should have the right to bear arms, but anything involving fully-automatic fire with extended magazines is just unnecessary.
Just shoot the man breaking in your house with a high-powered pistol a couple times, will have the same exact result as shooting him with a modded fully automatic assault rifle.
