The difference in performance will be gigantic between the APU and the i3-3220 + 7850. There is no price point where it is better to buy a prebuilt PC. Also Ubuntu is not bad, but to call it the best is ridiculous and if you feel like dealing with Wine, go ahead. I wouldn't put any distro of GNU/Linux on a gaming machine like this as the main OS in a million years.

I never called ubuntu the best OS i called it the best linux based OS. I use Win7 Pro on my PC and the CPU on the HP is an AMD A10

I may have been unclear, but I meant that calling Ubuntu the best GNU/Linux distro is ridiculous. Mint, Debian, other members of the Ubuntu family, etc. It's a good one, though.

I was just saying that Ubuntu is more of my favorite linux OS, it is the one I use on my media PC with all my movies that i have connected to my 32"
