Music preference: country and rock. all kinds of rock from alternative to screamo to metal and everything in between

Type / form factor and portability: over ear

Open/Closed (Not for in-ear): doesnt matter

Source(s): iPhone

ive had the beat studios for 2 years now but im looking for something different, all be it i dont think their TERRIBLE, they arent as good as their hyped to be and your paying for the brand more than anything else and since they were made for a totally different genre than what i listen to i feel like im missing out

(also if you could suggest a good pair of in ears for when i work out that would be great, price range for those would be about 50 USD give or take. right now i have klipsch i4s i think their called and they keep falling out) sorry that im asing so much lol ill def be sure to rep you

Since you listen almost exclusively to rock music, I'm going to have to recommend Grados. They're absolutely LEGENDARY for rock music. And I dare say that the SR325is are some of the best looking headphones I've ever seen.

These are $295 on Amazon.

There are some things you should know about Grados, though. The sound is not for everyone. However, if you listen to rock music, it's more than likely you'll like it. Just keep in mind that these will be nothing like the Beats, at all. The Beats focus on bass, and don't do a very good job of it, so the rest of the spectrum sucks. These focus on mids and highs, which are absolutely brilliant. Bass is not a priority with these at all, and there really isn't much. I have SR80is, and I find the bass is more than enough for all my rock music (I listen to everything from oldies to American thrash to a little metalcore). It just won't rattle your head like bassy headphones would. That's not the way rock music is supposed to be.

Grados are open headphones, so people around you will hear and you will hear them. If you're listening at home, this should be no problem.

The good thing about ordering from Amazon is the return policy. If you get these and don't like the way they sound, they have a very generous return policy.

Also, burn them in. They level out after around 100 hours, and the bass becomes more prominent after 200. Leave them playing pink noise at night. They'll sound good out of the box, but not at their full potential. High-end headphones like this do need to burn in!

These also do not need to be amped, as is the way with most Grados. They will respond very well to an amp, should you decide to add one to your setup.

If you are having any reservations about these, tell me. If you want some headphones that will sound more familiar to the bassy signature you're used to or something neutral, I can help.

For the IEMs, get the Brainwavz M2. They're 53 bucks on Amazon, and the best you'll get for that price point.

Good luck, and tell me if you need any help! Glad you decided to upgrade from the Beats.

What do you mean by this? Do you want full-size cans on IEMs?

The Koss DJ100s are fairly portable, and I know someone who takes these to school with him every day. They're built well, sound awesome for the price, and fold up.
