Cross-Buy Coming to Xbox One and Windows 10

4.6
During a panel at GDC, Xbox Division Head Phil Spencer gave another glimpse on the future of Microsoft’s platforms.
Spencer mentioned that a cross-buy option will be implemented in Microsoft’s storefront, enabling gamers to purchase a game with both a Windows 10 and Xbox One version, and to play it on both platforms without an additional expense, pretty much like the feature available on the PSN for PS4, PS3 and PS Vita and on Steam for Windows, Mac and Linux.
The option will not be mandatory, meaning that developers will be the ones to ultimately decide on whether games will be cross-buy or will have to be purchased separately on each platform.
Basically, we’ll get more bang for our buck, and that’s always a great thing to hear. Hopefully the option will be widely adopted by developers.

DeluxeHazard This sounds like a good idea but most people wither stick to playing games on their console or on their computer, usually not both.

When you can't access your Xbox it would be good cuz then you can play on your laptop or comp.

This is similar to buying AW on the Xbox 360 and getting it for free on the Xb1, pretty nice feature!

Just remember everyone,

"The option will not be mandatory, meaning that developers will be the ones to ultimately decide on whether games will be cross-buy or will have to be purchased separately on each platform."

Expect all CoDs + EA + Ubisoft Games to not have this.

Earn I like the sound of the cross buy feature but I'm unsure how it would work regardless I'm looking forward to it.

Reptrain Well this sounds really cool.

Well it means there will be no more "xbox exclusives" Only PC Exclusives :D

although "The option will not be mandatory, meaning that developers will be the ones to ultimately decide on whether games will be cross-buy or will have to be purchased separately on each platform."

Which means no luck for AAA titles.

How do you figure that? All this means is that you can get a PC and console version of the game you're purchasing (if it's on PC), devs wont stop making console exclusives because of this.

Meaning that games that Xbox claims to be "Xbox Exclusive" will most likely sell on the PC also.

Maybe even the next installment of Halo. If there is "cross-buying" it would make Halo not a console exclusive.

That's what I mean by that.

These games will be interesting and I may even think about buying some. I defiantly wont leave steam or anything like that. Steam is forever my baby.
