I'm wondering if you guys thought this was a dick move or if it was the right thing to do.
I've been dating this girl for 8 months on friday, we've had a great 8 months up until about a month ago when I just didn't have the feelings for her that i had at the start of the relationship, she literally fell in love with me, she thinks im amazing and perfect *cringe* when im really not.
About 5 days ago, I had a message from another girl about something I was selling, she wanted to keep speaking and it turns out we really like each other; (You're probably thinking, over 5 days? Good one) But I'm serious we cant stop talking to each other and it feels like i love her to pieces and i want to spend the rest of my life with her, shes funny, amazing and shares great banter. She really likes me too (we've talked about this and stuff). So for the past 5 days (whilst i've still been dating my girlfriend) me and this girl have got really flirty and non stop messaging each other until the fact where i cant get her out of my head. I cant stop thinking about her even when im with my girlfriend, so i decided that if i was being dated and my partner liked someone else, I'd want them to tell me rather than drag me along with it, not telling me. I broke up with my girlfriend today and didn't tell her this reason, she cried her eyes out so much and has been for the past 4 hours (im not with her now) and i feel really bad but i wouldn't have thought it was fair if i was still dating her and liked another girl :/. This girl lives on the other side of the country to me but im eager to try and make this work and she is too. What would you have done if you were going out with someone but after a while, your feelings went downhill for a bit and this other girl comes out of no where and you instantly really like her to the point you wanna spend the rest of your life with her?
I dont want no comments like 'dude you're an ass****' Im serious about this, I know what TTG's like sometimes...

It's your life, do what you want.

But please for that girls sake (your ex now)

Make her see that she did nothing wrong! Otherwise she will have non-stop boy trouble for the rest of her life. Theres nothing stopping you being friends! Hell, I'm friends with most of my ex's, just be clear that you are only friends! and there is no hope in a relationship between you to.

This way, you can help her get through the breakup (i'm guessing she doesn't have many girlfriends to help as she was devoted to you).

Be kind to her and tell her the truth.

mmm well might I ask how old you are? Because you seem to be pretty young.

sorta an ass move, but if you didnt have feelings for your ex then I dont see how it was really that much of an ass move. you probably dont wanna spend the rest of your life with this new chick, you probably felt the same way about your ex. The feeling of meeting someone new is ALWAYS a rush and you ALWAYS have those feelings. Time will tell and youll probably lose interest in her.

Oh don't worry I didn't break up with her in a dickish way, i let her down as gentle as i could and assured her that its not her fault what so ever, I just said i don't think is working out for me. Yes she knows i'll still be her friend but she told me she'd never get over me ever so being friends but her still loving me would be a problem wouldn't it?
I simply can't tell her the truth about this other girl man, shes already heartbroken, she wont even want to live if i mention that.

I am 17, nearly 18, I didnt want to sound like a manwhhore because im not at all i hate people that mistreat girls or mess girls around it isnt fair hence why i had to end it.
I really do man, this girl is everything but i know what you said is also true as even my mum said the same hing that meeting new people is exciting, but im sure i will not lose these feelings, the only trouble if me and this new girl does work out is the distance

Didn't you first go out with this girl because you really liked her etc.?

And now you don't like her anymore
You are going to go for another girl that you really like.

See how this sound familiar? I wouldn't be surprised if you end up losing feelings for this next girl like you did with the first. Especially when she lives far away. And I don't see how you can actually love someone just by talking on the internet, it will be very different in person.

Ps. Not telling her why you broke up with her and letting her just cry about is a pretty shitty thing to do.

I've been with my girlfriend for a year and half now and by the sounds of it you seem like you got bored with your girlfriend (ex) and wanted someone new in your life, because I found it hard to believe you can fall in love with someone in 5 days, seems more like lust.

Why not both? Just don't let them see each other.
