Story Behind Herobrine!
The story of Herobrine was that once, a person was in Singleplayer when, in the distance, he saw another player. He knew this was impossible, because he was in Singleplayer. The figure walked behind a mountain. The player followed him, only to realize he had disappeared .The figure was the default Minecraft skin, but with blank white eyes. The screen name of the player was "Herobrine". The player sent a letter to Notch, and he replied: "My brother's screen name was Herobrine, but he's gone now." This is an infamous ghost story among the Minecraft community and multiple skins have been made of him, in a possible attempt to scare people. The story raised a lot of commotion on forums, but was later revealed as a prank of the popular forum website, thetechgame.org. Stories like this are called "creepy pastas", stories made to scare the reader while they read them late at night. It is now a very popular mod with different variations.

How to set up a server!
Requirements:
1.) Go [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] and follow the directions to make sure that you can run a server!
2.) Go [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] and scroll down to "Multiplayer beta server software" and download that software.
3.) Access to your router.
4.) Some time and patience.

Steps:
1.) Log on to your router by opening the command prompt on your computer typing ipconfig and copying the Default gateway and pasting it into your address bar. You may or may not be asked for a password. Refer to your router instruction manual if it asks for one.

2.) After you have logged on you must go to the port forwarding section for some it will be applications and gaming and different for others.

3.) Once there you need to open a port so in the name bar type "minecraft" then for the TCP type 25565-25566 and for UDP type 25565-25566 For the ip address go back into cmd and type iconfig again and take the ipv4 address and paste it into the ip then enable it!

4.) After those steps you are done with the hardest part! Now you must put the server software you have downloaded into a folder and run it. Close out of it once it is done running. You should get some files in the folder (Thats why I suggest you put it in a folder)

5.) Open it up again after it is open go into minecraft and multiplayer then for the ip type "localhost" you should connect.

6.) In order for your friends to be able to connect you must go [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] and tell them to enter that ip and they should be able to connect!

7.) Have fun with your server!

How to make a classic server!
1.0a - Setting up a Classic (Creative) Server!

Step 1:

First thing you'll need to do is make a folder somewhere on your computer for all your server files. You can call it whatever you want, but just make sure you put it somewhere you can easily find it.

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

As you can see in the photo, I just placed my server folder in the My Documents folder and called it Minecraft Server, but like I said before, you can call it whatever you want and place it wherever you can easily find it.

Step 2:

Next, you will need to download the server files and put them in the folder you just created.

For the classic server files, click this link:
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

After you have finished downloading the server files, put the .zip file in the server folder you created, and extract it to the folder. In my screenshot, the files are being extracted to the Minecraft Server folder I created earlier.

Before Extraction
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

After Extraction

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Step 3:

Next thing you'll need to do is test your server by double-click the start server.bat file, and a command prompt window should pop up. If it popped up like it does in the screenshot below, then you've done everything up until now correctly.

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Just to explain a bit what it's doing... the first time you run start server.bat, it creates the files you'll need to run the server effectively, such as the world folder and your user logs and files. The server failing to load the text files is perfectly normal... the first time you run it.

Step 4:

Next, close your server(if you still have it running), and go back into your server folder. Look for a server.properties file, and open it with notepad. If it says it can't find a program to open it with, just choose the "select program from a list" option, and you should see notepad in the list of programs. If you somehow don't see notepad in the list, and/or you can't open the file, then try opening the file with other notepad-like programs.

The contents of the server.properties file should look like it does here:

[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Within this file, you can set all sorts of stuff like anonymous login(verify-names), the maximum amount of people you'll want on your server at one time, etc. The most noticable setting is the name of your server. To rename your server, just edit the "server-name=Minecraft Server" line, and change the Minecraft Server part of it to whatever you want your server name to be.

If you want this server to be private, then change the public=true line to public=false.

IMPORTANT!: Notice the port number is 25565 in the server.properties file! You WILL need to port forward the 25565 port if it hasn't been forwarded already! Doing this will allow people to connect to your server!

Once you've finished setting up your server.properties file, save it and exit. You now have your very own classic server set up! Your server will appear in this list when your server is running:

Set admins, and player names by editing your text files within the server folder(admins.txt, players.txt, etc.) so it's to your liking!

Enchantment

What is Enchanting?
Enchanting is a game mechanic that involves using an Enchantment Table to add special bonuses to tools, weapons or armor. To enchant an item, you will need the required Experience level for the enchantment and an Enchantment Table.
Notch has stated that Enchanting will work in three stages and the benefits will be based on the spell you choose, but a random loot element will be included as well. Each spell will cost the player experience levels but in turn allows the player to enchant armor, swords and tools with one or several random bonus attributes as well as making the items glow with a brilliant hue.

Enchanting Basics
To enchant an item, craft an Enchantment Table, place it on the ground, right-click on it and drag an enchantable item from your inventory onto the square under the book icon. Three randomly chosen enchantments will appear on the menu on the right. The only thing you can know for sure about them is their level, which appears as a number; the foreign text is random. You can take the item off and place it on the table again for a different set of enchantments. Or, you can attempt to replace the item on the table with a stack of two or more of any other item from your inventory.

A chart showing the relative probabilities of the different enchantment levels in the bottom slot with 30 bookshelves.
Once you choose an enchantment, it will be applied to your item, giving it a glow and one of the special powers detailed below, and you will lose a number of experience levels equal to the level of the enchantment. Enchantments cannot be undone (unless you repair the item, which removes enchantments) and an item can only be enchanted once (although you may receive multiple enchantments during one instance of enchanting, determined randomly).
Whenever you place an eligible item on the table, the enchantment levels available are randomly generated for each slot using the formula below. The enchantment level is dependent upon the number of nearby bookshelves (capped at 30) and a "slot factor" of 0.50 for the topmost enchantment slot, 0.66 for the middle slot, and 1.00 for the bottom slot. (If the number of bookshelves is 0, the second two random integers will always be zero. When placing bookshelves around the Enchanting Table they CANNOT be touching the table or the table will not change from 5.
Enchantment level available = (1..5 + 0..(b/2) + 0..b) s,
where b is the number of nearby bookshelves (maximum of 30), s is the slot factor for the given enchantment slot, and x..y generates a random integer between x and y inclusive. (Note that however many bookshelves are being used, 1 is still available as the lowest level.)
[ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

Bookshelf placement

Nearby bookshelves increase the level of enchantments further. As of Beta 1.9 Pre-release 4, no enchantments costing above five Experience levels are available unless you place bookshelves near the Enchantment Table. In order to have an effect, the bookshelf must have a line of sight to the table, be placed horizontally within 2 blocks of the enchantment table and must be either on the same level or level above the table. A table surrounded by six bookshelves on each side with a one block gap gives access to level 39 recipes. A table surrounded by thirty bookshelves (two layers of fifteen each, leaving room for a door) gives access to level 50 recipes

Enchantments

Enchantment names are randomly constructed from a long list of words. Three to five words are chosen from the list and appended to each other, creating the enchantment name. Any name can be chosen for any item. Note that the names are not actually saved with the item, they are only displayed in the Enchantment Table interface, albeit with the Standard Galactic Alphabet.
scrolls klaatu berata niktu xyzzy bless curse light darkness fire air earth water hot dry cold wet elder ignite snuff embiggen twist shorten stretch fiddle destroy imbue galvanize enchant free limited range of towards inside sphere cube self other ball mental physical grow shrink demon elemental spirit animal creature beast humanoid undead fresh stale
Repairing an enchanted weapon/tool will remove the enchantment on it.[6]
When an enchanted weapon deals bonus damage to a mob, circular blue particles fly off of that mob, similar to getting a critical hit.
There are several levels on most enchants, and when you enchant you can get several enchants on each weapon/tool/armor.

What can I enchant?
Enchantable items are Items such as swords, shovels, pickaxes, axes, and every part of armor of any material can be enchanted. Hoes, shears, fishing rods, bows and flint and steel are not enchantable

Standard Galactic Alphabet

The enchantments are written in the Standard Galactic Alphabet which is a simple alphabet substitution code used in the Commander Keen series of computer games.
This is something that may help you decode the language (but will not give leads on the enchanting result): [ Register or Signin to view external links. ]

I got this stuff from minecraftwiki.net

What is minecraft?:
Minecraft is a sandbox building indie video game written in Java originally by creator Markus "Notch" Persson and now by his company, Mojang, formed from the proceeds of the game. The game is focused on creativity and building, allowing players to build constructions out of textured cubes in a 3D world. The game is divided into two main modes free Classic and paid Beta where Classic is focused entirely on construction with unlimited material supply, while Beta requires players to acquire resources themselves, and contains mobs, player health, and additional features and items. The gameplay is inspired by Dwarf Fortress, Dungeon Keeper, and Infiniminer.
The game is currently in development and Beta is the only continuously updated version of the game. Minecraft was developed for about a week before its public release on May 17, 2009 on the TIGSource forums, where it gained a considerable level of popularity. It has been continually updated and patched since then, and while it was still in alpha release, it garnered several hundred thousand sales and received critical notice and acclaim from many reviewers. It passed a million units sold on January 12, 2011, less than a month after reaching Beta.

Brewing Recipes:

General Guide to Brewing

Potion brewing chart (excludes splash potions)
Every Potion starts with a water bottle. Made by filling a Glass Bottle at a water source, or from a Cauldron.
As seen in the brewing chart on the right, the first step of most potions is to create an Awkward Potion, by placing Nether Wart above water bottles in the brewing "grid". Potions with varied effects are made by adding secondary ingredients to the Awkward Potion. Tertiary ingredients can be added to alter the potion's effect in some way. As a general rule, adding Redstone will increase the duration of the potion, adding Glowstone (Dust) will increase its potency, and adding a Fermented Spider Eye will corrupt the potion's effect. Finally, Splash Potions can be created by adding Gunpowder to any potion. This allows the potion to be thrown as a weapon.
While adding an ingredient into glass bottles filled with water or potion, only one of an ingredient is required to fill all three slots. E.g. One Nether Wart can create three Awkward Potions.
