But that's for outdoors to protect against the sun. This will be indoors.

You need to get to the bottom of why you are self conscious. If you're overweight without sounding nasty how about you lose the extra weight and you won't be as self conscious anymore?

I'm not overweight, I'm a stick xD It's something that I am currently trying to 'lose'.

In that case, there's no point wearing a swimming top in my opinion. People can tell your weight easily by looking at your face and neck and they really don't care if you're skinny or not. You should never be embarrassed because you're not carrying very much fat, for all they know you're an Olympic runner

Don't be self-conscious. The shirt isn't hiding anything man. Do things your way and people will respect you for it.

Don't let other peoples opinion bother you. But no swimming with a t-shirt isn't weird - at least that's what I think.

For what reason do you wear a top?
Are you embarrassed of your weight? If so, I believe that wearing a tank top while swimming because you're overweight makes it worse.
If not, then yeah, why not. It's normal
