This tutorial will show you how to install mods to your Minecraft client
First, you will need to determine if the version of Minecraft you are playing can use Minecraft Forge to load mods. Look [ Register or Signin to view external links. ] and try to find your version of Minecraft. If it is not listed, then you will have to wait for Forge to be updated to continue this tutorial. If your version is here however, find the correct version and click Installer. Finish downloading the installer and we can move onto the next step. Right click the installer and Open with Java:
Next, make sure "Install Client" is selected and press Ok:
If you get an error, make sure you have played Minecraft on the version you are trying to mod before you install Forge. Reopen Minecraft and launch the game with the new profile created called "Forge"
Now, right click on your Desktop and create a new shortcut, put this into the textbox (substituting James for your username):
If you go to your shortcut you will have your minecraft directory. Notice that there is now a folder called "mods". All you have to do is download the mods you want for the version you have Forge installed for and place the mod .jar files into the "mods" folder and relaunch Minecraft.
