Extra Effort Trophy Guide
Score from the ground.
Trophy - Bronze

This trophy is for scoring while lying down on the ground. You will NOT get it using any of the sliding shots. It is based on a particular new animation which is a second movement on the ground after you have already been brought down. From a lying position, you swivel around and kick the ball towards goal.

This is probably the single most frustrating trophy in the game. Highly luck dependant, you may get this one done in an hour, or in twenty. Hopefully the methods below will help you stay closer to the former than the latter. There are two different ways to go about this trophy. I recommend that you mix and match, trying both on and off until you get it. But first, you need to set up things to give you the best chance.

Pick a team with a tall, strong and mobile striker. Ibrahimovic (PSG) or Ronaldo (Real) are ideal. Now go and adjust his stats, maxing everything out to 99. (You can skip goalkeeper stats).

Main Menu > Customise > Edit Player > Find the player > Third Tab = Attributes.

Next pick a crap team with two stars or so. Find their starting goalkeeper, and edit his stats as well. Slam everything down to the minimum of 1, except for his Aggression in the Mentality section. Max this out to 99. Make sure you save after editing each of the players. Then head into a Kick Off match using both teams.

Important: Make sure to turn off Match Day squads when picking the teams (triangle). If you dont, you wont get the benefit of your changed player stats.

Before starting the game, go into the Game Settings menu. Set the difficulty to Amateur and halves to 20 minutes to maximise your game time. Next edit the User and CPU settings sliders to match the following:

USER Gameplay Settings:
Sprint Speed: 25
Acceleration: 100
Shot Speed: 100

CPU Gameplay Settings:
Sprint Speed: 0
Acceleration: 0
Goalkeeper Ability: 0
First Touch Control Error: 0

Lastly, before starting the match set your team formation to 4-5-1 in Team Management. Stick your super-striker up front on his own. Now on to the actual methods:

Method 01: Run at the Keeper.

As the game starts, set the strikers team to Park the Bus (left on the D-pad). This will give you more room up front. Use your speed advantage to get through the defence and run directly towards the goalie. As you get into the box, DO NOT SPRINT. Either manually slow down, or use L2 to temper your speed. Just before reaching the goalie, turn sharply to one side. You are trying to bait him into tripping you. Remember you have to be lying on the ground before you will get the opportunity to shoot as needed for this trophy. If you are brought down and get the opportunity to shoot, hold the flair button while shooting. This seems to increase the likelihood of this doing the proper shot, and at the very least will prevent you punting it over the crossbar. (Flair shots tend to be lower). To get this to work, you need ALL the below to go right:

- The goalie has to bring you down without fouling you for a penalty. (More often than not, hell either foul you or miss completely).
- Once brought down, the ball has to be nearby. (More likely itll be too far away, the wrong side of you or behind the goalie).
- If it happens to be close enough, you have to get the right shot animation. (Youre player will tend to stand up first, not what you want).
- Lastly, if you get the shot away, it has to go in. (L2 will help keep it down, direction can be an issue).

It seems to be better to not try to direct the shot itself. As you will already have the goalie beaten, a simple press L2 of and shoot should default to the centre of the goal. Power should not be a problem, as you have already maxed it out in the User Gamplay settings. Dont overpower the shot, a quick press is plenty.

Method 02: Tackle the Goalie
Two Controllers or Online Partner Needed.

For this method, you need control over both teams, either with another controller or with an online friends help. As the game starts, set the strikers team to Park the Bus (left on the D-pad). This will give you more room up front. Set the Goalies team to All Out Attack (right on the D-pad). This will bump the defence up slightly. With the striker, get possession and head to the box. Pass the ball to the goalie to make him pick it up. If using two controllers, you will need to juggle a bit next.

Quickly position the goalie holding the ball to the side of the goal in the corner of the six-yard-box. (Whichever side is nearest). At the same time, position the striker ahead of him out in the penalty area. The best position is about level with the penalty spot, in line with the goalie.

With the goalie, move diagonally towards the penalty spot, and as you move, press triangle to drop the ball. With the striker, move towards the penalty spot area as well. You should approach the goalie from behind and from the side. This is the ideal position to perform a hooked sliding tackle. A straight sliding tackle is not what you want as it knocks the ball away. The hooked tackle traps the ball more, increasing the chance to keep it near enough.

Use L2 to slow your slide and help prevent the ball shooting away. Also, with a bit of practice, you should be able to kick the ball off the goalies legs in the tackle, again increasing the likelihood it will stay near enough. Still holding L2, you will hopefully get the opportunity to shoot.

As with Method 01, you need a lot to go right here for this to come off:

- You have to get the ball without fouling the goalie. (Slide tackles from behind require finesse).
- Once tackled, the ball has to be nearby. (A lot of the time, your tackle will punt it away).
- If it happens to be close enough, you have to get the right shot animation. (Again youre player will tend to want to stand up first).
- Lastly, if you get the shot away, it has to go in. (L2 will help keep it down).

I found the best method overall was to alternate between the two. If I was out the field, I would run at the goalie and try Method 01. If it got a bit crowded in the box, I would switch to Method 02. Its really about maximising your chances in a session, and making the best of your time.
