The Luxury Axe is a variant of the normal Axe which requires Gold instead of Flint, allowing Flint to be saved for other uses. It requires 2 Gold Nuggets, 4 Twigs to craft and an Alchemy Engine to prototype.

To chop down a Tree either click the Axe on the tree or equip it by right-clicking it from the belt. Once Wilson begins to chop the tree either hold down the LMB or Spacebar until the tree falls. Both Axes can be used as a weapon in the same way, and deal 27.2 damage. The Axe has 100 uses meaning each chop will reduce 1% of its durability; whether used as a weapon or to chop down trees. While the Luxury Axe has 400 uses meaning each chop will reduce 0.25% of the items durability

Fallen Evergreens produce Logs and Pinecones. It takes between 5 and 15 chops to fell a tree, depending on its size. This means the Axe can fell 6 to 20 trees in its lifetime, while the Luxury Axe can chop down 26 to 80 trees. If the Axe is used on a Burnt Tree it will reduce the tree to a piece of Charcoal and occasionally a Pinecone as well. Spiky Trees (found in Marshes) can be chopped down for Logs or Twigs.
