Battlefield Remasters Not Coming Anytime Soon

4.6
While remasters are becoming a way of life in the video game industry, it doesn’t appear Electronic Arts is joining the party with any kind of gusto. Despite the fact that we’re finally getting a Call of Duty remaster, EA doesn’t appear to be following suit with Battlefield remasters.

EA’s Patrick Sunderland recently talked about his company’s plans when it comes to remasters, especially for Battlefield, to IBT saying, “I wouldn’t say never. We’re not doing it right now, we’re focused on Battlefield 1 – but if we think the fans want that I see no reason we couldn’t.”

Considering EA is already sort of rebooting it’s entire Battlefield franchise, there doesn’t appear to be a need for a remaster. Considering they’ve actually named this Battlefield 1, it seems they might go down the road of remasters, by putting out new games set in or around the time where some of their more popular earlier games were set.

not really that annoyed about this, not really a big fan but I will still play it when it comes out

Well, thats a shame. Would've been awesome to see a remaster of Battlefield 3. Even more if they went further back and did Modern Combat.

This is why remasters can somewhat be a cancer. Once one game series gets a remaster, fans of other series want the. Don't get me wrong it's fine to want one, but most series that come out with them don't need one. Like the Halo series needed one, because Halo 5 wasn't going to be released for a while. Dishonored, Borderlands, and Dead Island are all money grabs. Even the CoD remaster is iffy. EA has no need for a remaster, because Battlefield still has momentum.

i never played any of the early battlefields so i guess im not missing anything but it would be nice to try some old games!

If battlefield 4 turns out as good as everyone thinks, then i dont think there is any need for older battlefield to come out. They should just focus on creating great games as thamey have been. They made CoD 4 remastered to save the series, not because everyone wanted it.

So I imagine after Battlefield 1 release they will probably at least make Battlefield 1943 or Battlefield 3 or Bad company 2 backwards compatible.
Maybe remaster them but backwards compatible would be just as good.

It'd be great to see a battlefield 1943 remaster, game was great fun.

I wish next gen console could "understand" the discs so you can just pop the disc in the tray then play it as normal - just like what the PS3 done with the old PS games.

I love battlefield myself always loved the game and always will. The Battlefield 1 looks amazing so I'm going to buy the game when it comes out. Also the trailer blew my mind how the game quality is creasing by numbers. Overall the game is well damn good. Can't wait to get my hands on the game. Also to add on this, the remastered one isn't my interested and I think the EA fans wants Battlefield 1 more than the remastered version to be fair.

When it comes to battlefield Im okay with that, BF4 is good enough to satisfy me. Havent really played any prior to Bad Company 2 anyways and that game as well as the few before that have great graphics anyways.
