Battlefield 5 is World War 1 “Multiplayer Tactical Shooter” – Retailer

4.7
EA has been rather coy about details regarding the next major Battlefield title aside from the fact that it will be releasing near 2016 end and returning to the series’ military shooter roots with DICE at the helm.

However, a placeholder listing on Swedish retail site World of Games (via NeoGAF) revealed that Battlefield 5 will be a “multiplayer tactical shooter” and set in World War 1. It will apparently be releasing on October 26th for Xbox One, PS4 and PC, which pretty much puts previous gen out to pasture.

Take this with a grain of salt as usual, although it’s not far-fetched to believe that a new Battlefield will be out in Autumn seeing as how most games in the franchise have followed the same release cycle (save for Battlefield: Hardline which released in February 2015).

What are your thoughts on this, especially seeing as how World War 1 hasn’t been explored much in the FPS space? Let us know in the comments and stay tuned for more information.

Both different games, they do not compare...

You are taking what he said out of context. He was saying that it is unlucky for CoD, because the fans have been requesting a WWI/WWII game for a while. Now that battlefield has it they will gain those fans.

Thats the issue with games these days, try to make them too complex.

Vancouver_Canucks It'll be brilliant if they take the series back to the World War. The futuristic stuff we get a glimpse of in BF4 and the Call of Duty's is poor, doesn't appeal to me. At least with a WW1 game they have clear guidlines on what to include in the game and factual content, it'll be much better and realistic.

Battlefield 4 didn't have too much futuristic stuff, except for the railgun sniper and the hover tank in the one DLC. Everything else was pretty modern, but I do understand what you're saying. What I'm more curious about, is since it's going to WW1, are they going to bring along some of the chemical weapons used in WW1, such as Mustard Gas bombs and stuff like that? Trench battles are also going to be intense, having to worry about getting picked off from a snipers at a distance and worry about close combat in trenches, hardcore mode may be a nightmare lol.

If this is real, I will for sure be getting this. We need simpler games. World War 1 era should be beautiful for a war scene, as well as now with the vivid colors they can produce on next gen, it should be a lot cooler than older versions of old wars. Looking excited to get back into this era. I missed W@W style gameplay
