Call of Duty tops 250M units sold worldwide

Call of Duty has sold so many copies you could probably construct some sort of super fort out of them.

Following on from word that Black Ops 3 was the best-selling game in the US in 2015, Activision has announced Call of Duty franchise sales have topped 250 million units worldwide.

Summoned from the labyrinthine corridors of Activision by the clarion call of the NPD, Call of Duty franchise general manager Rob Kostich said Black Ops 3 was the best-selling title of 2015 globally by a “wide-margin in both units and dollars”.

“This also marks the seventh year in a row that Call of Duty has been the #1 selling franchise in North America, according to NPD,” he said.

“In fact, Call of Duty has surpassed 250 million units sold life-to-date worldwide. This achievement is thanks to the amazing experiences created by all of our development teams, and would not be possible without the incredible passion from the Call of Duty community.”

Kostich said Activision is looking forward to “what’s to come” in 2016, presumably referring to Infinity Ward’s next effort. It’ll be the first time the team has had a three year cycle so expect a refreshed feel from the original* Call of Duty crew.

AR15 Would have honestly expected more sales considering how many people I know and how many times I see things about Call of Duty on my timeline and what not.


250 million MILLION 250,000,000 that's a ton considering each cod only averages 25-30 million users on each console

MW2 was terrible, that Introduced the gay little kids who trick shot and ruined the game, every lobby was the same and you couldn't actually do a proper gun fight it was all snipers and the game was ruined

World at war remake would be the best idea ever

I guess I'm in the minority when I say I can't wait for Ghosts 2, played Black Ops 3 and dislike it with the futuristic crap that's similar to AW, Treyarch also seems to have been given too much creative freedom with zombies considering now it has tentacles everywhere. This Call of Duty is a joke lol
