Background music playback won't be coming to Xbox One before summer

4.8
Since Microsoft rolled out the New Xbox One Experience in November, new features have been added. There are still plenty of features in development, but one feature that is at the top of the list won't be making it's way to the Xbox One for some time.

That feature is background music playback, which will let you have the ability to open a music app on the console, and then jump into a game full-screen while the music continues to play.

Phil Spencer responded to a tweet saying that it won't be out "before summer."

I think that this is rubbish tbh.

This kinda sucks, personally I can't play single player games without music.

damn talk about a wait, theres going to be way more with the next update than just some bg music.

This is a cool feature, but surely we all have a PC , laptop or phone to play music on until the update comes out? No need for the uproar about it.

I didn't even know this was going to be a thing. It is definitely a feature which I would use, shame that we will have to wait a while until we have the capability though.

This bugs me more than it should...it really does. I wouldn't find myself listening to music while playing against players online (i.e. in a competitive game) but I would often do this while playing zombies or fallout or something. I'm sure they would if they could, but it's probably just the fact that it may be licensed, or something stupid that they have no control of.

I would rather this came out sooner than later, a bit of music gets me more motivated to play.

No wonder when I started playing music on my xbox and played a game it quit playing derr

Not much of a problem since i usually don't want to listen to music while playing Xbox anyway.
