FF7 is episodic otherwise “we’d have to cut some parts” says director

Director and producer offer some insight into controversial decision to split classic RPG release.

The team creating Final Fantasy 7 Remake has said that it’s going to be a “multi-part series” because otherwise it would be forced to cut some content.

In an interview with Dengeki Online, translated by Gematsu, director Tetsuya Nomura said: “If we dedicated our time to a single release, parts of it would become summarized.

“We’d have to cut some parts, and additional parts would come in few, so rather than remake the game as a full volume, we decided to do multiple parts.”

After showing a stunning trailer for FF7 Remake over the weekend, it was left to a Square Enix press release to fill in details about the release.

Splitting the game into multiple parts hasn’t gone down well with some fans.

“If we dedicated our time to a single release, parts of it would become summarized,” added producer Yoshinori Kitase.

“We’d have to cut some parts, and additional parts would come in few, so rather than remake the game as a full volume, we decided to do multiple parts.”

i understand why this is done, however if its one of those "release part 1, that only takes 4-5 hours to complete" then wait 6 months for part 2" type of deals i will probly leave this well into the future, as much as i love FF7 and its a mix between that and ff9 that are my all time fave FF games, it would annoy me having to wait so long between each part.

Now if they release all parts on day 1, as multiple discs or digital id be all over it like a tramp on chips providing they dont release each part as £20 or something

It should be good either way but I've never played any Final Fantasy.

UZl This sounds like its going to be a very good story. The last time i played a game with a multipart series was on Dreamcast. Love these type of games
