Skyrim ported to Xbox One as an exercise for Fallout 4

4.4
Bethesda used Skyrim in order to familiarize itself with Xbox One hardware before Fallout 4 development kicked into high gear.

Speaking in the latest issue of Game Informer, Todd Howard told the magazine porting the massive RPG was just “an exercise” which allowed the team to quickly familiarize itself with the console’s hardware.

Howard quickly added fans shouldn’t “get [their] hopes up yet” regarding Skyrim on Xbox One.

Who knows. Maybe the Xbox 360 version of Skyrim will become backwards compatible on Xbox One in the future. It wouldn’t be out of the realm of possibility.

Lend Skyrim & Fallout 4. Looks like people are gonna be spending that Christmas money extra fast this year.

Did you read the post? Even if they do decide to port it to the One, it may not release for a while unless it is released as a backwards compatible game.

Hmm. It wouldn't be release soon since F4 will need some more work at first. Maybe spring 2016? I assume that the game is already completed for current gen... they just do not have the time to release patches for it.

The have the time for the patches..They've got multiple teams for multiple games. Microsoft is always pulling this card. They did it for Forza 5 as well. 'Look what we can do. We ported a game to PC that is an Xbox Eclusive!' 'Sell it?! Why would we > Waste time porting a game over > Make it run flawlessly > And Sell it for more money in our pocket!? You people are crazy!'

People act like porting games is hard for them. I will admit, Old console to new console can lack in some firepower on same games. But it's more than possible to port them over to a new system. It takes time, yes. But it's possible. As they have proven time and time again.

Todd Howard, possibly opening up the opportunity of a remastered Skyrim; hopefully they consider that an option after Fallout 4's release; although they should focus on the life of that game get a team to finish it. A port doesn't mean it runs perfectly.
