Steam reaches new user record

4.7
Steam has reached a new concurrent users milestone.

Sometime on Sunday, November 1, Steam reached a peak of 13,480,916 users. The number represents concurrent users worldwide, and it’s highest so far in the marketplace’s history.

In June of this year, Steam broke the 10 million mark, also for concurrent users.

The numbers may be different from month to month, but the top five most played games have seen little change. Dota 2, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and Team Fortress 2 still occupy the top three slots respectively. GTA 5 and ARK: Survival Evolved follow next, with the former being the highest-played non-Valve game right now.

It’s not unrealistic to imagine at least another million before the year’s end, especially considering the growth that happens around Steam’s mega holiday sale.

Note
Synybun Maybe when more people start playing on PC we'll start getting some of the games that are usually exclusive to a console. I want to play Halo 5 but i'm not buying an entire xbox for it

Millions are already on PC. It wouldn't make a difference. It's easier to make games for console I believe, which is why they might be keeping the exclusives to them. Budget & laziness.

You can actually play halo o pc.... There is a Reddit forum for it its called "Halo online" made by a bunch of Russians who semi ported over the game and its pretty decent imo.

Nationalism Yes, but how many are unique users and not users with multiple accounts?

Concurrent users, meaning that 13,480,916 were online at the same time. And since you can only be on one steam account per computer at a time, unless maybe through a virtual machine, which that would be stupid unless you're playing a game from thee 1900s, yeeesh the thought of playing games through software makes me gag.

Another point I'd like to bring up is that Steam isn't the only PC gaming platform. There is Origin, Battle.net, Uplay, Mojang, Runescape, browser, and LoL has it's own client which occupies many PC gamers.

Gonna do some math real quick on Concurrent max users on all platforms
Steam = 13.5 Mil
LoL = 7.5 Mil
Minecraft = 1.5 Mil
UPlay = 300K (lol)
Origin = 1.3 Mil
Runescape = 250K
Battle.net = 400K
------------------
Max Concurrent PC Users = 24.75 Mil
