Microsoft unveils the Lumia 950 and 950 XL

4.2
At its highly anticipated October event, Microsoft has officially announced two flagship handsets, the Lumia 950 and 950 XL. The previously leaked smartphones are the first handsets from the company which will run on the new Windows 10 Mobile OS out of the box. The new devices tout technologies such as "adaptive antennas" and "liquid cooling".

Given the previous leaks, there was little left unknown about the two handsets; leaked slides from the company's presentation a few days ago confirmed the specifications of the devices, renders showed what the flagships would look like, and only a couple of hours, we even got to look at more high-resolution photos of the prototype devices, showing the Lumia 950 and 950 XL in their full glory. Even Microsoft itself confirmed the devices when it 'accidentally' revealed them on its website.

However, now the company has officially unveiled the Windows 10 Mobile devices which have the following specifications:

Lumia 950

Matte White or black polycarbonate body
5.2 inch WQHD (1440x2560) OLED display (564 ppi)
Snapdragon 808, 64-bit Hexa core
Iris scanner (infrared) for Windows Hello
3GB of RAM
32GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot
20MP PureView rear camera with triple LED flash, OIS
5MP Wide-angle front facing camera
3000 mAh removable battery
Qi wireless charging with flip cover
USB Type-C

Lumia 950 XL

Matte White or black polycarbonate body
5.7 inch WQHD (1440x2560) OLED display (518ppi)
Snapdragon 810, 64-bit Octa core
Iris scanner (infrared) for Windows Hello
3GB of RAM
32GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot
20MP PureView rear camera with triple LED flash, OIS
1mm silver ring inside the circumference of the black camera pod
Aluminum side buttons
5MP Wide-angle front facing camera
3300 mAh removable battery
Qi wireless charging integrated
USB Type-C

And as shown above, both the Lumia 950 and 950 XL will support Windows Hello beta out of the box.

The Lumia 950 and 950 XL will be available for purchase for $549 and $649 respectively and will be available starting November.

Swift I love the look of the phone, if it ran Android I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Yeah no doubt.

It would be insane.

These lumia phones are great, The only real factor holding them back is the fact there isn't really any apps for them. and not all Windows Phones are expensive, These will drop in price.

Liquid cooling? How did they fit that in there, I have always know liquid cooling to be a quite space intensive option. So this whole eye scanner thing with windows hello, it seems like it would get really annoying, unless it can read your eye from arms length away where your phone typically is when you use it, a fingerprint sensor is a lot better in my opinion then this. 20MP camera is quite nice though, and having the wireless charging built in really nice feature.
