Halo 6 Writing Has Already Begun, “Serious, Real Planning” Going On

343 Industries’ Halo 5: Guardians is roughly a month away but the developer is already making plans for the sequel.

According to franchise development director Frank O’Connor in conversation with GamesRadar, “We do kind of know what’s going to happen in the next game pretty well at this point. We’re doing serious, real planning and even some writing on the next game already, and that’s a luxury – we’ve never been in that position before.”

We do know that Halo 4, the first game in the franchise to be developed by 343 Industries after Bungie’s departure, was set to begin The Reclaimer Trilogy. This would have included Halo 5 and Halo 6 but is now a saga. It’s very much possible that things with Master Chief don’t end so easily even with Halo 6.

Halo 5: Guardians releases on October 27th for Xbox One so we’ll have some idea of the direction 343 Industries is going in. What are your thoughts on the franchise at this point? Let us know in the comments.

This doesn't surprise me one bit. I think I would be more surprised if they didn't start on the next one already. I mean, they do need to know where this story and series is going. As far as where the story has already gone, it is very interesting in my opinion. I haven't read the books, but I do know some details of them. In saying that, I hope they add more backstory from the books into the games for those that may not have read them. The story is great.

Don't see what the problem is really, I think it's obvious that with only a month left until halo 5, it would be already be finished and will be shipped out to retailers soon. Any development towards halo 6 at this stage is most likely early story and art concepts.

Anyone think there just doing this so they don't make a big liar out of Phil Spencer. I still can't believe he said halo will last another 20 year's. If any franchise is going to it's most likely going to be Call Of Duty.
