Xbox boss expects PS4 price cut next month

Microsoft is predicting rival Sony will cut the price of the PS4 very soon.

Such a move would follow last week’s price cut in Japan, announced at the Tokyo Game Show.

“I fully expect they [PlayStation] will drop price,” Xbox boss Phil Spencer told IGN.

“When I think about the playbook they’ve used in the past, we feel good about the plans we have in place going forward in the holiday. If history tells, then we’ll see a price drop from them coming.”

An official announcement would likely happen during Paris Games Week, taking place October 27. We’ll be reporting live from the press conference on the day.

If you’re thinking of buying a new PS4 before Christmas, you might want to hold back until the end of next month.

I have Xbox one and a PC I'm quite glad they are lowering. I like PS4 but right now it's too much. This will defiantly help lol

Cant compare a PC to a console lol, its completely different. PC will always rule yeah but, but it would be like comparing a Lamborghini to a Toyota, they both do what you want sure. BUT one is far more superior to the other.

If they don't drop the price (which I don't think they will) Microsoft will have made a very smart move. By a head of a company saying Sony will make a price drop, people will wait to buy. Which in the end, will make it look like more Xbox Ones will be sold each month over PS4. (Now this is just speculation, and not all consumers want to wait)

BUT I truly believe this is a marketing strategy Xbox has proposed to make stock holders happy, when in the next months if this goes as planned it'll look like Xbox is gaining momentum. Very smart imo.

I would be surprised if they didn't drop the price, considering that they did in a different region and the amount of time that the console has been out.
