Microsoft shoots down Xbox One Mini rumor

The Xbox One is a large console, but it seems Microsoft is in no rush to unveil a slimmer model. The company was rumored to be launching an "Xbox One Mini" in October, but Phil Spencer, Microsoft's head of Xbox, has shot down the idea on Twitter. His "not real" statement is pretty definitive, although of course, that doesn't mean Microsoft isn't planning a redesign for a later date. Although the Xbox One's sales are behind the PlayStation 4, it has a slew of exclusives coming out this fall including Halo 5: Guardians, Forza Motorsport 6 and Rise of the Tomb Raider (okay, that last one is actually a timed exclusive). If Microsoft is working on a "Mini" model, it's more likely to appear at somewhere like E3 next year.

I don't really see the problem with the size of the Xbox One at the moment? I've recently moved house so I have a complete new setup and it would happily fit in multiple places and look great. Obviously the PS4 is smaller in size but I wouldn't really think of the difference being a huge problem!

If you were a company working on a prototype of a new product, you aren't going to confirm it.

It's a damn smart way to make money, because the Xbox One is abysmal. I would personally pay $400 for a better functioning AND smaller Xbox One.


I agree its a good way to make money, I just don't see a reason to get it really. My Xbox one works fine as is.


yea but if they cant get the regular one functioning correctly what makes you think a more compact version is gonna be, when i had my xbone it got hot when it was off in one of the updates.
