Windows 10 surpasses 75 million installs

4.8
Microsoft has announced today that Windows 10 has surpassed 75 million installs of the OS less than a month after the operating system was released. This strong growth rate, which peaked around 1500 installs per second, is reassuring for the Redmond based company whose future is solidified in Windows 10, as the OS now operates as a service.

Microsoft’s tactic of giving away the OS as a free upgrade to consumers with Windows 7 or 8.1 appears to be paying off. Based on the distribution of the OS to date, it looks like many accepted the free offer and pre-registered to receive the OS, which is a big win, as the company needs the OS to succeed, to help drive developers to build apps for its store.

The company is targeting one billion installs within the next three years and while this install rate will slow down, it's a very healthy start to be closing in on 10% of their goal within thirty days after release.

The next milestone to look forward to will be on September 1st when NetMarketshare will release their statistics about the marketshare of desktop operating systems, to see how big of a chunk Windows 10 was able to take in its first full month of availability.

Pro- I dont like windows 10 so why are people using it xD

Because it is a free upgrade that most people are eligible for so they are installing it. I myself installed it on my gaming machine but couldn't stand its terrible security and privacy invasion so I switched to linux full time.

theres no privacy invasions where did you hear that also if your so scared to look up porn say so and you can turn off those settings as for the security its better the windows crap(8) and way faster and its the only os that can use directx 12

Even when told not to windows 10 will still use telemetry to report everything you do to Microsoft. That includes Key logging and other nefarious spyware. Windows security is also terrible in general, I would rather run a more secure system and not be spyed on. DX12 is also useless since there are only a handful of games that actually support it right now.

'Windows security is terrible'

Sorry mate, never had a virus and it's all me, my family, and the majority of my friends have used after being left in the cold by 3rd-party security.

Please explain how you know Microsoft are sending data back, even when the settings are turned off, I'd also like to know your personal qualifications that should give you bold (and wrong) statement any actual value. DX12 is about as useless as any DX was until it was used, they've only had a few months access to it - of course you're not going to see many games making use of it right now. What is your more secure system? OSX? Linux? Both have very dodgy privacy settings - I'd make sure you've checked the right tickboxes....Or if you don't trust them (how could you trust them, and not Microsoft, anyway), maybe you should just run a PC offline on windows 95.
