Sony announces a lighter PS4 and a new 1TB console

4.5
Sony has announced a 1TB PS4 model due for release next month, as well as a new lighter and less power hungry 500GB model.

The 1TB PS4 Ultimate Player Edition launches before the end of June in Japan, and comes to Europe July 15. As for the 500GB model, it also launches in Japan at the end of June. Sony has not yet revealed a date for North America and Europe.

The new 500GB model is 10 percent lighter than the current version and uses 8 percent less energy. It will feature a matte finish on the HDD cover and comes in black and white.

The 1TB model will continue to use original console architecture, the platform holder told Eurogamer.

We’re still waiting on retailers to price the console and will update as soon as we know more.

StrategicsKEY True with the pc facts but I'll always prefer console idk why it's addicting or something. But ima switch my ps4 for probably a 1tb model I need more memory already and it saves energy

You could just buy a 1tb harddrive and swap it out yourself.

Znait Meanwhile on PC we have had 1TB HDD's for years, oh and we also have had 2,3,4, and up to 8TB hard drives. Literally nothing new, just low end consoles milking money from their customers because they think PC is more expensive when it isnt. a $500 pc beats a $500 console.

you can't compare something like a pc to a console. this is honestly the greatest performance gap and all it does is beat the dead horse that pc is better (which is obvious). consoles aren't made to have all these top of the line parts to compare with pcs because the price would go up. people were complaining that the xbox one was too much with the $500 USD price tag at launch; do you think they'd be willing to spend over $1000 (USD) to get a system that would be closer to performing to the far superior pc? the answer is no. to address your point of "a $500 pc beats a $500 console." yes, this is absolutely true, but not everyone wants to play pc because they like the controller more than the keyboard (even though you can use a controller on pc), some people like the convenience, etc. it's just different strokes for different folks at the end of the day. some people would like to spend their entire college fund to get the highest fps, at the highest resolution, on the most demanding game; some people just want simplicity.

(i'm not claiming any of the above to be fact; it's just my opinion. just tired of people comparing the pc to a console. yall might as well be comparing an mma fighter to a kid who just got his first belt in karate. sure they both fight, but one is clearly better.)

you can actually spend the same amount on a PC that you do on a console and get more out of it,

i know, i addressed this in my response.

Have you ever thought that some people prefer console gaming to PC gaming and they don't actually want to play PC games? **** me, it's like I'm the only objective gamer out there.

I really hope they lower the price, at least for the launch. If they do, I'd definitely get one.
