Call of Duty: Black Ops III Announced for PS3 and Xbox 360

Activision just announced with a blog post that Call of Duty: Black Ops III will actually come to PS3 and Xbox 360 on top of the previously announced PC, PS4 and Xbox One versions.

Beenox and Mercenary Technology are the studios working on the old-gen ports.

There will be differences with the current generation version: the campaign co-op mode will only allow two players instead of four on PS3 and Xbox 360, while “some other features and functionality” will also not be included, as they’re built specifically for the new generation of platforms.

The upcoming beta will also be available only on PS4, Xbox One and PC.

As a bit of a punch in the gut for Wii U owners (at least the fifteen that actually care about Call of Duty, I guess), the announcement explicitly specifies that there is no version of the game planned for Nintendo’s console.

Because for the company to focus on both consoles they have to compensate for the newer gens and it gets really annoying that we're being held back by people who haven't upgraded.

Not really. They can't just "take stuff out" of the game. That would break it and make it unplayable. The stuff they put in on next gen has to be made so that it could be taken out for last gen, and that's not possible with everything because one slip and the game is broken and you're two steps back. They have to build the game with last gen in mind, even while building on next gen. And frankly, that's bullshit.


Actually thats what they did. It was made with only current gen in mind, and they keep that, then they dumb it down to run as well as it can on ps3/360. They referred to it as a "port". Think of it like how minecraft started on PC (best to play it on) and was ported to everything else (lacking of full features). So this CoD is the first original Full current gen Call of duty, but is being ported to last gen as well.

You do realize you only have to pay once. Activision is most likely going to have a free upgrade to current gen promotion.
