Lego's 'Minecraft' competitor is real and ready to download

4.6
Yes, those rumors of Lego building a direct competitor to Minecraft were true: meet Lego Worlds. The sandbox game has launched on Windows through Steam's Early Access program for $17, and promises to do more than just let you sculpt buildings and fight off critters. You can alter the terrain on a large scale, and access ready-made drivable vehicles (including dragons) to get around the procedurally generated landscape. Not too surprisingly, there's also a big tie-in with Lego's real-world plastic bricks. You can play using a handful of old-school and current Lego sets, and more are promised down the road. Don't be surprised if you're eventually buying digital blocks at the same time as their physical counterparts arrive.

Minecraft is way too popular to be over taken in my opinion, it's about 2 years too late for lego.

If only Lego hopped on this project sooner. Could have actually been a true competitor. But, for some reason I feel like there's no turning back, and that Minecraft has this scene dominated.

UZl this might be popular for the first few weeks but then it'll die down. Everyone will go back to the original minecraft imo.

That's how it is with new games. Doesn't matter what genre. A new shooter can come out that is 3x better than CoD, but usually people migrate back because of various reasons. Sucks, but it's just the way it is.

This looks kinda cool.

I might have to give this a try.

You-Tube Maybe if they would have released it about 3 years earlier maybe they would around the level minecraft is at, but its too late for them i guess as minecraft has the most demographical level of consumers.

This comment contains some next level ignorance in it to be fair, think of it like this, how many triple A shooters are there for consoles that get brought by the same people every year, if there was a better one they would move, no gaming demographic is full (the sports games are another story EA got that on lock).

My hope for this game is that it works and i can play bionicles on it, else we should just implement all the features into a minecraft mod pack, alot of the things in the video we can already do/have done with minecraft mods but this provides more clarity to the cable modders that have not thought of doing them in better ways (building the snowman is an example, there are mods for that but non of them are that easy).

Sounds pretty good but it can't compete with normal mine craft

Yeah it looks good but don't think it has the potential like Minecraft.
