NBA 2K16 Pre-order Incentive Lets You Own The Game Before Release Date

2K Sports really wants you to preorder NBA 2K16.

The sports publisher is offering its flagship game four days early — the full game, in both disc and digital form — to those who preorder the game from a North American retailer participating in the promotion. (GameStop is one).

Doing so guarantees a copy of the game in the buyer's hands on Sept. 25, which is the Friday preceding the game's Sept. 29 launch date. Preorders also come with extra virtual currency and items used in the game's career and MyTeam modes.

The pre-order offer is good for all versions of the game: PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Windows PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

The NBA 2K series has had significant problems with online features for weeks after the game's launch over the past few years, in some cases affecting offline career modes of play. 2K Sports recently promised online features for all editions from NBA 2K14 forward would be supported for 27 months after their launch date.

NBA 2K16 has brought in Spike Lee as a collaborator on the game's superstar career mode. The annual series usually reveals its upgrades and additions after E3.

I wish more game companies did this. Granted when pre-ordering, I'm not wanting to get games like 2 week early, but 1-2 days before the game hits it's release date wouldn't be bad in my opinion.

UZl Ill preorder and get the game early, if i dont like it, ill cancel the pre order and transfer it to another game. Sounds like a good idea.


You can't cancel the pre order when you already have the game...... You get the game early not a beta or anything the full game... Did you even read the article?

Maybe to get more sales or just doing it as an exclusive to pre ordering the game.

This is pretty cool. I probably won't pre order it as I am not really into games like this but I may pick this game up after release if it looks good.

Developers don't change the game that early to release, and if they do they'll just release an update.
