YouTube gaming livestreams now support 60fps

4.6
YouTube has launched 60fps support for its livestreaming service.

Having launched 60fps playback some time ago, YouTube has now upgraded its streaming technology to support 60fps livestreams.

The new system transcodes streams into 720p60 and 1080p60. You will need a browser that supports HTML 5 to be able to watch said streams. The HTML 5 player now also supports rewinding and variable speed playback at 1.5x and 2x.

Both Elgato and XSplit have released updated versions of their capture tools to support the new feature.

The program is currently in preview period and the creator blog post did not say when it will fully launch.

This is awesome, but most people only post 720p60fps anyway.

I know they did this to compete with twitch, but I really doubt it'll change much.

I usually watch livestreams and such from Twitch. I have tried to watch them on Youtube before and it's just unbearable. Maybe this will change it
