EA’s new Need for Speed is a “full reboot”

4.6
Yesterday EA teased a new release for their stalwart race series Need for Speed. Today, we got the first trailer and details. Guesswork pointed towards a revival of the Underground games, and whilst that has yet to be confirmed, the new game will feature “authentic urban car culture”. Sounds a bit Underground-y

The new Need for Speed game is in development at Ghost Games, who made the previous NFS game Rivals. It’s described as a “full reboot” with “deep customization, authentic urban car culture, a nocturnal open world, and an immersive narrative.”

“Pulling on our 20 years of history, and then taking a year out from releasing a game, we are making the game we’ve always wanted to. We’re listening to the fans and delivering an experience that will capture their imagination and unleash their passion for cars and speed.”

The game will be built upon the same version of the Frostbite engine being used for Star Wars Battlefront.

Yeah, looking into this more I still probably wont pick it up since I feel the entire Need for Speed line is dead and this is them just trying to reboot the series and wont end well.

Staggie Most Wanted and Underground were by far my favourites years ago, repping that PS2.

This could be special.

I remember playing underground on the PS2, no racing game has beaten that so far for me.

Most wanted the first version was amazing and loved it and the second version was okay but nothing compared to the old.

I need a new racing game soon and I hope this is the one I choose. NFS the old ones were good but the last couple years I wasn't a huge fan of the games.
