GTA 5: Rockstar reassures single player PC mods won't get you banned

4.6
Rockstar Games has reassured everyone that single player PC mods will not get you banned. Only those who use mods that have a negative impact on GTA Online will lead to players being banned.

In a Q&A on the Rockstar Newswire page, Rockstar has stated that their modding policy has not changed and that no one has been banned for using single players mods and they never will be.

“I’m having soo much fun with GTAV on the PC but I just have one question about it, how come you are not allowing mods for it?” - @ClarkMatthew63
“Will I get banned from GTA Online for using a FoV Mod or Oculus Rift mod?” - @Mattophobia

To be clear, the modding policy in our license has not changed and is the same as for GTAIV. Recent updates to GTAV PC had an unintended effect of making unplayable certain single player modifications. This was not intentional, no one has been banned for using single player modifications, and you should not worry about being banned or being relegated to the cheater pool just for using single player PC mods. Our primary focus is on protecting GTA Online against modifications that could give players an unfair advantage, disrupt gameplay, or cause griefing. It also bears mentioning that because game mods are by definition unauthorized, they may be broken by technical updates, cause instability, or affect your game in other unforeseen ways. - Rockstar Games

Rockstar also mentioned they are working on a version of the Rockstar Editor to add to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, with the hope of it coming sometime this summer.

“I would like to use [the Rockstar Editor] but I’m on PS4. Hey Rockstar, can you do something please for PS4 players?” – Black_Pawn_01
“When’s [The Lab radio station] coming on next-gen consoles?” – GRUNSKY
“Is [The Lab radio station] ever gonna come out on PS4?” – sn3jku

The Rockstar Editor is an advanced tool requiring additional processing power so it would not be compatible with GTAV on the older systems, but we are currently working on a version tailored for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles – and we hope to release that sometime this summer, or as soon as it is ready. We are also planning to bring The Lab radio station to all four consoles in a forthcoming title update. Please stay tuned for more information. - Rockstar Games

I'm still waiting for the good texture mods tbh. It was pretty obvious they were going to allow users to mod SP tbh, and it was also fairly obvious that online mods wouldn't be allowed.

ImHypped eah modding shouldent affect single player i wouldn't mind banning online

The only reason why they are not banning sp is because they know players will stop playing their game. Just. Like on console where its very hard to bring in mods, players just stop playing since its too repetitive

Good... And too bloody right... Vanilla is so boring and without mods the game will die in months!

There is still that concern of getting banned from GTA Online though.

UZl Thats good in their side. Rockstar really know whats it like to be a gamer. Other companies would ban you for using them either way, online or offline.

No but Rockstar before this said Single player mods shouldnt get you banned but some people still did but now they have fixed it.
