GTA 5: Modders Find Red Dead Redemption And Agent Files In The Game

4.5
As more and more mod makers for Grand Theft Auto V dig into the games files and find their way around the unofficially named RAEA (Rockstar Annoying Encryption Algorithm), the encryption is starting to finally make sense. It would appear as though it’s in place to help try and hide away some files that Rockstar might not have wanted you to see, or perhaps they did want you to see them but only if you worked for it. Time will tell.

After cracking open some of the games files, they found files that relate to Red Dead Redemption and Agent, which in case you’ve forgotten is a stealth action video game that was first announced in 2009. What they found in relation to the popular western shooter Red Dead Redemption, a game that has all but demanded a sequel, was what appears to be a functional head model. It’s unlikely that this means there’s a PC port of Red Dead coming soon, but not impossible. What’s more likely is some GTA V / Red Dead inspired DLC of some sort. Maybe.

What they found in relation to Agent is nothing of any consequence, but it’s worth showing you anyway. An image was found showing the words “AGENT TEST REEL” in white against a black background. There’s not much else to say about it other than, at least it still exists.

vWatsonc This is pretty cool to be honest, weither it is for rockstar club or an Easter egg in the game (wouldn't be the first time from GTA)

Like some said it might be just because of the parents you choose for your gta character are the RDR characters.

DeluxeHazard Well RDR is very similar to GTAV in controls and a basis of multiplayer. DLC relating to RDR would be interesting if Rockstar do release something like that.

A DLC related RDR would be awesome in my opinion.

I don't see why this is news since everyone already knows it's part of the game like Rin said below.

Claude, Niko, Misty and John are all selectable parents for Multiplayer character creation.
Claude, Niko and Misty are from the Collectors DLC and John Marston is from Social Club.

People don't seem to realise that nearly all Rockstar games are made using the same engine, the same thing happened with vice city and San andreas, to mod them you go into the gta3.img, it's the same format just different files, rockstar tend to use files from older games and just reskin or retexture them. I could have told anyone this before it was found.

Tree_Fiddy You must be an idiot. They are used for gta online for when you choose parents. You can make john the father.

because not realising something like this makes someone an "idiot". Stop being so arrogant.

On topic- Apparently not what first though, but GTA V Red Dead DLC would be epic tbh. Still waiting on that sequel though.
